STEWART, who once resided near Webster, this county, died last Thursday afternoon, March 3, 1904, in Louisville, Ky (Jefferson County), at the Kentucky Tobacco Company's Plant. His right arm and head were drawn into a machine which he was operating by his coat sleeve being caught in the cogs; it is supposed. His arm was ground into pulp, and several bones in his face were crushed before the machinery was stopped. How he happened to be drawn into the machine is not definitely known. STEWART was removed to St. Joseph's Infirmary (in Louisville) at once, after the accident, and death followed in two hours. Mr. STEWART was 40 years old, and is survived by a wife and two children. Four or five years ago, he moved with his family to Louisville from Webster, where he is well-known. He had been an employee of the Kentucky Tobacco Product Company's Plant for several years. A roaming Gypsy fortune teller foretold Mr. STEWART'S death, to his wife last summer. She told Mrs. STEWART that her husband would meet with a violent death within a year, and while he was engaged at his work. Page 1, Column 1 Same issue: FUNERAL AT WEBSTER The funeral of Horace G. STEWART, mention of whose death will be found on another page, was held Saturday, March 5, 1904 at Webster, his old home. Mr. STEWART did not die at the Kentucky Tobacco Company's Plant, but was injured there, and died at St. Joseph's Infirmary later. A slight mistake in the first sentence of the article about his death gives rise to this correction. Additional Comments: Breckinridge County Cemetery Book, volume 1, published in 1991, and Breckinridge Online Archives Site's list of burials for Webster United Methodist Church Cemetery, located in the town of Webster at the end of a lane running east from Lodiburg Road, just north of Highway 703. The Archives site gave me Mr. STEWART'S middle name. STEWART, Horace G. (Greely) 09 Jun 1854 -- 03 Mar 1904 husband of Mary Eliza STEWART, Mary Eliza 15 Jan 1823 -- 01 Mar 1905 wife of Horace I thought both of their birth dates were questionable/incorrect that I found in volume 1 of the cemetery book, so I got online to double check the Breckinridge Archives's cemetery listing. The dates are correct. Mary Eliza was about 31 years older than her husband, Horace. They have a triple tombstone, and their little girl shares their stone: STEWART, Maggie Roberta Baby -- age 14 months (no dates) File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ky/breckinridge/obits/s/stewart6882gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/kyfiles/
