She is not expected to live through many of the warm days of summer. She is said to be the oldest living woman in Hancock County. Breckinridge News, Cloverport, Ky., Wednesday May 23, 1900 Page 1 Obituary MANY DESCENDANTS -- "GRANDMA" STINNETT OF WAITMAN BOASTED TWO HUNDRED AND TWELVE DESCENDANTS -- Waitman, Ky. (Hancock County), May 21, 1900 (Special) Grandma STINNETT, whose illness was mentioned last week, died at the home of her youngest son, Mr. Alfred A. STINNETT on Tuesday, May 15, 1900. She was a member of the Baptist Church for more than 50 years, and her funeral was conducted by her pastor, W. H. DAWSON. She was buried in the Old Iron Hill Cemetery (in Daviess County, Ky. near Daviess/Hancock County line). Mrs. Elizabeth STINNETT was the mother of 13 children, six of whom survive her. Counting children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she can boast 212 descendants. Additional Comments: I believe Elizabeth STINNETT STINNETT and her husband Ruben S. STINNETT were first cousins, but I can't prove it. Here is her family outline, which is part of my family research. WHITWORTH is my family name. So many of Ruben and Elizabeth's children married WHITWORTHS. Iron Ore Hill Cemetery, located in north eastern Daviess County, Ky., on hill above the Conservation Club Lake. Copied July 29, 1973 Ruben S. STINNETT born 1806 married about 1829/1830 probably in Virginia died 4 Aug 1879 Buried Iron Hill Cemetery. I have a picture of his tombstone. Elizabeth nee: STINNETT March 12, 1814 -- May 15 1900 wife of R. S. STINNETT Buried Iron Hill Cemetery. I have a picture of her tombstone. They lived around Garfield in Breckinridge County before I found them in the 1880 census of Yelvington, Daviess County. Eventually Elizabeth ended up in Waitman in Hancock County with some of her children, where she died in 1900. STINNETT born about 1835 VA died after 1876 married #1 19 Feb 1855 Breckinridge County to Henry CARLTON married #2 16 Aug 1876 (?in Owensboro, Daviess County, Ky) married #2 Richard Samuel BOARD 4- Robert STINNETT, SR. born about 1837 VA died 1921 married 23 Dec 1858 Breckinridge County to Henrietta Ellen WHITWORTH 5- Eliza Ann STINNETT born 11 March 1830 (1839) VA died 25 Apr 1912 married #1 28 Dec 1852 Breckinridge County to Abraham "Abel" WHITWORTH married #2 to Thomas B. HALL 6- Malinda STINNETT born about 1841 VA died married between 1850 & 1860 or died 7- Sarah M. STINNETT born about 1843 VA died married between 1860 & 1870, possibly married a Mr. WOLF 8- Virginia STINNETT born about 1845 VA died married between 1850 & 1860 or died 9- Tabitha STINNETT born 1847-1848 died between Jan 1864 and Aug 1866 married 7 Jan 1864 Breckinridge County to James J. WHITWORTH 10- George W. STINNETT born 20 Sept 1854 KY died 30 Nov 1913 Suicide. Buried Blackford Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Hancock County, Ky. He lived at Dukes in Hancock County. married to Eliza N. ________. (Maiden name unknown) 11- Rosina STINNETT born about 1855 KY died married a Mr. BROWN but not in Breckinridge County 12- William STINNETT born about 1856 KY married to Mary (maiden name unknown) but not in Breckinridge County They were living in Hancock County in the 1880 census. 13- Alfred A. STINNETT born about 1858 KY died after May 1900 married 9 Mar 1876 in Breckinridge County married Amanda L. STINNETT at her father's residence, Wyatt STINNETT. He lived in Daviess County in 1876 He lived at Waitman in Hancock County in May 1900 I found these two little babies buried at the Garfield Cemetery at Garfield, Breckinridge County. One tombstone: STINNETT, Laura J. 30 Jan 1863 -- 11 May 1863 STINNETT, Woodford A. 25 May 1864 -- 7 May 1865 Tombstone states: children of R. & E. STINNETT Looks like Grandma Elizabeth STINNETT had 15 children, not 13 as her obituary states.
