Sam P. THOMAS, recently Marshal of Hawesville, and who was removed to Hopkinsville (Christian County), Ky last Tuesday for treatment, died at that place on Saturday night, November 25, 1899. The remains were sent here Monday, and interred in the Hawesville Cemetery Tuesday. Mr. THOMAS was 42 years of age and unmarried. He served one term as Hancock County Sheriff, probably 15 years ago, and was a guard in the Eddyville Penitentiary during the whole of John Y. BROWN'S administration. He leaves his brother, Mr. W. S. THOMAS, of the Hancock Deposit Bank. Also surviving are two sisters Miss Mary THOMAS of this city, and Mrs. PATE, wife of Reverend Eldred E. PATE.
