Phillip left home Saturday and said he would not be home that night, but would stay with an aunt, failed to return Sunday and his grandmother, Mrs. James Allen, with whom he lived became uneasy and early Monday a searching party started out and found the boy's body on a tract of land back of the Frank Davis farm. A double barrel shotgun was found nearby with one barrel having been fired. The shot entered the body in the right side of the chest. R. T. Dowell, coroner, was called and the verdict of the jury was accidental death. After being shot, Phillip had evidently tried to reach the house on the Davis farm occupied by a Mr. Carman, as the indications were that he was headed that way by a trail of blood between where the body lay and where the shotgun was found. Burial was in the Allen cemetry near Locust Hill Monday afternoon. He is survived by his grandmother and two brothers.
