Mrs Amanda Thornhill Dies
     Guston (Special) Another of our aged citizens, Mrs Amanda Thornhill, 88 
years old, passed away last week.  She had been very active, despite her 
years, keeping house for her grandson, Ralph Thornhill.  With the exception 
of a slight paralytic stroke two years ago, which evidently resulted in her 
death, as she died very suddenly in the evening after complaining of a 
slight illness that morning.
     She is survived by a brother Charles Adkisson (never married ?) and a 
sister Mrs Georgia (Dan) Dowell, seven children (Jesse Trenton (Ada Priest & 
Myrtle Mudd), Lillie Mae Thornhill Davis (Ernest), Amelia Thornhill Priest 
(William H), Ernest Thornhill (Cora Allen), Carl Thornhill (Mary), Bettie 
Thornhill and Gabriel Thornhill (Bettie and Gabriel died young) and many 
grandchildren, whose names were not learned and three other grandchildren 
she raised from infancy; Mrs Ova (Mabel) Thornhill Thompson, Mrs Paul (Leva 
) Thornhill Cundiff and Ralph Thornhill (never married).
     Her remains were taken to the home of a daughter in Breckinridge County 
and funeral services were conducted at the Harned Methodist Church, of which 
faith she was a member. 
     

Additional Comments:
although she died (of a stroke) in 1938, there is NO death certificate 
available for Amanda Adkisson (Atkinson) Thornhill...she died in Meade 
County and she was taken to her daughter's (Amelia Thornhill Priest) home in 
Breckinridge County for the wake and funeral services were held at Harned 
Methodist Church
