L. TRENT, Sr., age 62, former Mayor and long time Civic Leader of Irvington, died Monday, February 13, 1961, at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas (Harris County). He had entered the hospital several days ago for treatment and a series of operations. A successful farmer, he came to Irvington (Breckinridge County) in 1924 to enter the automobile and garage business. In recent years he operated a farm implement dealership which was sold a few months ago. He has always been active in farm organizations, and every civic endeavor of his town. He was a leader in the redevelopement of Cedar Hill Cemetery, and through his efforts built it into one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the state. Orchard Heights and Valley Terrace, two of Irvington's subdivisions, will stand as living monuments to Mr. TRENT. He developed both additions to the town, and was continuing his building programs at the time of his death. Mr. TRENT was a member of the Methodist Church, Rotary Club, and Irvington Board of Trustees. Mr. TRENT was largely responsible for many improvements to the town, at the same time leading the town to become entirely debt free. He was also the builder and owner of the Green Valley Restaurant which he operated for some time before leasing it. Mr. TRENT is survived by: his wife, Mrs. Ella WILSON TRENT one daughter: Mrs. Don DRAKE of Texas three sons: Leonard Lee TRENT, Jr. (no residence given) Gerald W. TRENT (no residence given) Jeff A. MERCER (no residence given) one nephew: Kenneth KASEY (no residence given) Tentative Funeral arrangements have been made for 2 p.m. on Friday at Irvington Methodist Church. The body will be at the Alexander Funeral Home Thursday and Friday until time for the funeral. Breckinridge County Herald-News, Friday, February 24, 1961 Funeral services for Mr. L. L. TRENT were held on Saturday, February 18, 1961, at the Irvington Methodist Church with the Alexander Funeral Home of Irvington, Ky in charge of arrangements, and burial was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
