"Pop" Vessels,Jr. age 81, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Medco Center in Brandenburg, KY. "Pop" proudly served his country in the Pacific as a U.S. Marine corporal during WWII and the citizens of Louisville as a sergeant with the Louisville Fire Department. After retiring, he moved from Louisville to his hometown of Rhodelia, KY where he enjoyed many years of farming. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years Dorothy Louella Flaherty Vessels. "Pop" is survived by his adoring children: William Vessels of Cartersville, GA - Ronald Vessels and Ginger Figg of Louisville, KY - Daniel Vessels of Greensburg, KY - Sharon Able Nichols of Shelbyville,KY - Dale Vessels of Stephensport, KY as well as his daughters-in-law and son-in-law. In addition, 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. 2 brothers: Bernard Leon Vessels of Union Star, KY and Gene Vessels of Payneville, KY Funeral services to celebrate the life of "Pop" will be held on Saturday, 3-17- 2007 at 11AM EDT at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Rhodelia, KY with military honors to follow the Mass.Donations may be made to Medco Nursing Facility in Brandenburg, KY or the American Cancer Society.
