WHITEHOUSE, the son of Mrs. Rosa M. WHITEHOUSE, of this city (Cloverport), arrived here Thursday morning for burial. The body was sent to New York on a transport from the Philippines where Mr. WHITEHOUSE died nearly a year ago while serving as a Private in the Regular Army. The body had to be taken about 500 miles by land before it could be placed aboard ship. This and numerous delays in transmission were the cause for the late arrival in this country. On Friday afternoon, May 27, 1904, the interment was at St. Mary's burying ground at Mattingly, Ky. Additional Comments: I did not find a tombstone for James WHITEHOUSE or his mother, Rosa in the Breckinridge County Cemetery Book, volume one, published in 1991. The cemetery where he is buried is: The Old St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery #0006, which is the origional burial ground of of the Present St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, located on a gravel road referred to as Cemetery Road. In the southwestern part of Breckinridge County.
