His illness was brief, extending back only to the preceding Sunday. Mr. WITT died at age 83, and was a native of Clay County, West Virginia. Years ago, he came to Cloverport, and engaged in the tailoring business, which was his life-long occupation. He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Mary FORD of Fordsville, Ky (Ohio County). To this union was born one child Miss Manie WITT of Ludlow, Ky (Kenton County), who survives. Mr. WITT'S second wife was Miss Alice MOORMAN of Hardinsburg, who survives. Of the children born to this union, the following are living: Mrs. H. L. ROTH of Cincinnati, Ohio (Hamilton County) Mrs. W. F. WEYMEYER of Cincinnati, Ohio Mrs. S. H. McCRACKEN of this city (Cloverport) James WITT of Owensboro, Ky (Daviess County) one sister: Mrs. Eliza CULLEY of Louisville, Ky (Jefferson County) one brother: E. R. WITT of Rosetta, Ky (Breckinridge County) For 65 years, Mr. WITT was a member of the Baptist Church of this city. He lived a life true to his faith, and was a man liked by everybody who knew him. The funeral was conducted from the Baptist Church Saturday afternoon, July 30, 1904, the Reverend S. O. CHRISTIAN, officiating. The interment being in the City Cemetery (in Cloverport). WITT and daughter, Miss Maude Witt of Rosetta, Ky. Page 5, Column 1 (same issue, August 3, 1904) LOCAL NEWS ITEM: Mrs. William WITT has gone to Owensboro, Ky to reside with her son, James O. WITT. Additional Comments: I did not find a tombstone for William WITT or either of his wives in the Breckinridge County Cemetery Book, volume 1, published in 1991, or in the Breckinridge County Cemetery Book, volume 2, published in 1997. I also did not find any of his children.
