OBITUARY
     Frank WOOD, a farmer of the Freedom Community and one of its best known 
citizens, passed away at his home there, Thursday, December 2, 1938, following a 
brief illness.  He was 66 years of age, and is survived by:
his widow, Mrs. Nancy WOOD
four children:
Alvey WOOD, who is in the home
Atlee WOOD of Louisville, KY
Mrs. Ara POTTER of the Freedom Community
Mrs. Homer BRUINGTON of the Freedom Community
one brother, Pleas (Pleasant) WOOD of San Diego, California
and two sisters of distant states.
     Mr. WOOD was a son of Adam and Martha TAYLOR WOOD, and was born and reared 
near Dent's Bridge.  He had spent his entire life in the county, and after his 
marriage, moved to the Freedom Community, where he has since lived.
     The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Freedom Cumberland 
Presbyterian Church, of which he had been a member since his conversion in 1894.  
He was made a ruling elder in this church on August 15, 1915, and served thus 
until the time of his death.  The Reverend L. D. Ballard, pastor, preached the 
funeral sermon, and elders of the church were Pallbearers.  Burial in the church 
cemetery with R.T. Dowell, undertaker in charge.

immediately west of "Dead Man's Curve" from Kentucky Highway 60.  The church lies 
east of the road, and is blocked from view by a low ridge.
