Dedicated in memory of Rev. William E. Powell.
A zealous priest, homilist, missionary, & educator.
First principal of Mt. Merino Seminary, Breck. Co.
Born in Franklin Co., KY, ordained 7/1/1838 at
Bardstown, KY, died 9/15/1840.  Buried under
the high altar of the church.  Grave is unmarked.
Erected 10/5/1986, on the 175th anniversary of
St. Romuald Parish.  Rev. J. Patrick Reynolds, Pastor
