Previously owned by Oscar CRAWFORD by a deed dated 15 Jan 1901 (Commissioner's Deed Book 2, pp 468) "there is excepted out of the 61 acres next to the Eliza SHEL- TON and V. H. SHELTON land a family burying ground of about one acre which is reserved to the heirs of Geo. W. SHELTON and Annie SHELTON dec'd". Listing prepared by Vira CRAWFORD NELSON. She was the daughter of Oscar CRAWFORD. According to Glenn RAY, there were about 12 unengraved stones at one time. George W. SHELTON b. 1818 Married 25 Nov 1866 to Martha Ann ROBERTS. George was the son of John J. Shelton & Elizabeth HAWKINS. George Shel- ton was the father of Mary Ellen Shelton, wife of Gene FRENCH. Mary Ellen Shelton French died alone. They lived and owned the James ANDERSON ATCHER farm. She was dead several days before someone found her body. Martha Ann ROBERTS SHELTON b. 1832 Wife of George W. Shelton Sarah Shelton HOLYFIELD (HOLLIFIELD) b. 1868 Daughter of George W. & Martha A. Shelton, married William J. HOLYFIELD 28 Oct 1890 HOLYFIELD, unknown child. Child was scalded to death Ada Bell "Addie" SHELTON HINES Daughter of George & Ann Shelton, married John HINES on 22 Apr 1895 HINES, 2 unknown Hines children Several other unknown graves
