In 1835, James, his parents & siblings, left KY and moved to TX. Although there is no date or address on the letter, due to other names mentioned in the letter, one in particular, Magruder, as in Levi Magruder, one would assume that the writer, Matilda Blanford, was living in Bullitt/Nelson Co. KY. In 1835, Samuel Burch & wife Dorothy Burch (parents of James Burch), sold their Nelson Co., KY land to Benedict Blandford of Nelson Co., KY. The Bullitt/Nelson County line, ran through Samuel Burch's land. Since the writer, Matilda Blanford, writes that ..."the Magruder family he is dead"... , the letter would have been written after 1868, when Levi Magruder died. The details of the letter indicate that the writer is referring to Levi Magruder. In the letter, Matilda Blanford writes that she will send James Burch, a picture of her brother. I have 3 unknown tin-type photos that my TX Bruch relatives have not been able to identify.
