ALPHY on charges of felony 2.00 summoning nine witnesses for same 1.12 1/2 for taking Will L. NORTH in a charge of felony 2.00 summoning four witnesses for same .50 for taking William McAHRON on charge of felony 2.00 for taking James McAHRON on charge of felony 2.00 summoning witnesses in the two last cases 1.25 F. MERRYMAN $13.49 Additional info provided by Robert Rardin 17 July 1999 The reference regarding the entry "24 Feb 1825 Ordered that Frances MERRIMAN, a Constable of Bullitt County be allowed the Sum of thirteen dollars forty nine cents agreeable to the following account: for taking William McAHRON on charge of felony 2.00; for taking James McAHRON on charge of felony 2.00; summoning witnesses in the two last cases 1.25" - may refer to the Court of Quarter Session law suit filed in Bullitt Circuit Court, Bundle 235, February 1825, James McAhron vs. Marmaduke Burkley/Berkley. In 1825 Burkley/Berkley accused James McAhron of stealing Catharine Berkley's hogs, and McAhron, a minor, spent twelve hours in the Shepherdsville jail. The justice of the peace did not think McAhron guilty, discharged the case, released McAhron from jail, and awarded McAhron $250 in damages. James' father, William McAhron, was named by Burkley/Berkley several times in the alleged theft. Witnesses for plaintiff included William McAhron, Joseph Nichols, George Key; for defendant Joseph Nichols, Owen Goldsmith, and George Key.
