Bullitt Circuit Court, KY, Court of Quarter Sessions, Elizabeth Westfall vs. Robert Huff, March 1804, Bundle #134. Contains only the summons and on its reverse the court information. Elizabeth Westfall filed a "plea of Trespass in the case Damage one thousand Dollars." The summons was issued 27 October 1802 in Bullitt County, ordering Robert Huff to appear before the Justices of the Court of Quarter Sessions on 1 March 1803. The matter was continued by the court until the February 1804 term, when it was "Dism'd for want of Pros'n." In March 1804 "Off Dism'n conp't." Bullitt Circuit Court, KY, Harrison Joyce vs. Harrison Westfall, April 1846, Bundle #345. Consists of five papers. On 27 February 1846 Harrison Joyce filed a "Plea of trespass victarmis," asking for $150 in damages. Joyce claimed that Westfall in 184_ discharged a certain gun then and there loaded with gun powder and leaden balls and then and there with his Said gun Shot at and discharged the same against a certain Horse between 5 and Six Years old a bay coller, the property of and belonging to Said plff of great value to wit of the value of $65 . . . So greatly Shot, hurt and, wounded Said Horse, that by Reason thereof the Said Horse being of the value afs'd afterwards, to wit, on the day and year afs'd died at the circuit afs'd . . . ." Westfall answered the plea, claiming that he was not guilty of the charge. The following people were summoned to court to testify on behalf of Harrison Westfall: "John Harshfield (Blacksmith), Christian Harshfield, Martin Harshfield, Henry Harshfield, Wm. Shoptaw, Jesse Chappell & Ballard F. Chappell." The following people were summoned to court to testify on behalf of Harrison Joyce: "John S. Shoptaugh, Wm. Welch, Henry J. Felker, Wm. Joyce." The jury found for the plaintiff in the sum of $65, Wm. Polk being the foreman of the jury.
