Bundles of original documents now held at the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives, Public Records Division, Frankfort, KY. Elizabeth Westfall vs. Robert Huff, Court of Quarter Sessions, March 1804, bundle No. 134. Elizabeth filed a suit against Robert in April 1803, asking for $1,000 in damages. "This is An Action of Trespass on the Case and no Bail required." In February 1804 the matter was dismissed for want of prosecution. Samuel S. Nicholas vs. Seth Thornberry, August 1826, bundle No. 247. Samuel S. Nicholas, assignee of James W. Denney (also spelled Denny), filed a plea of covenant broken against Seth Thornberry on 1 August 1826. Seth B. Thornberry signed a note, writing "In case, the will of Sam'l Thornberry is established in the Court of appeals, I promise to pay Jas. W. Deney One hundred & fifty Dollars as his fee Dec. 1. 1824" The will of Samuel Thornberry was established in the Court of Appeals during the fall term 1824. The Bullitt Circuit Court jury found for the plaintiff for $165 in damages.
