All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ky/kyfiles.html ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Patricia O'Connor p-oconnor@att.net November 15, 2006, 1:50 pm Bullitt County Deed Bk E, p 80 Written: October 11, 1822 Recorded: November 14, 1822 Allen; Masden; Pope This indenture made this 11th day of October one thousand Eight hundred and twenty two between Thomas Allen and Elizabeth his wife of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky of the one part and John Hardin of the County and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that Thomas Allen and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and twenty Dollars to them in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have given granted bargained and sold unto the said John Masden a certain tract or parcel of land containing sixty four acres lying and being in the County and state aforesaid on Cane runs from and bounded as follows Towit: beginning at a birch tree standing on the South bank of Cane runs running thence S 25o W 48 poles to a white oak and beech thence S 70o E 112 poles to three beech trees thence N 55o E 100 poles to a beech thence N 70o West 112 poles to a beech at a branch thence down the branch S 50o W 54 poles to a beech near the mouth of said branch on the bank of Cane Run thence down the same as it meanders to the beginning. To have and to hold the Said tract or parcel of land and the Heredetaments [?] and appurtenances thereto belonging unto him the said John Masden and his heirs to the only proper use and behoof of the said John Masden and his heirs forever and the said Thomas Allen and Elizabeth his wife do covenant and agree to and with the said John Masden and his heirs to warrant and forever defend the said tract of land with all its appurtenances unto him the said John Harden and his heirs against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever and further do give unto the said John Masden full and peaceable possession of the said land and appurtenances thereof belonging. In witness whereof the said Thomas Allen and Elizabeth his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first within written Thomas Allen [seal] Elizabeth Allen [seal] State of Kentucky I the Clerk of the County Court of Bullitt County do certify that on this day Thomas Allen and Elizabeth his wife came personally before me in my office and acknowledged and delivered the within Indenture of bargain & Sale as for their act and deed and the said Elizabeth examined privily and apart from her husband relinquished her right of dower in and to the lands within mentioned & stated to me that she did so freely and voluntarily without the threat or coercion of her said husband that she did not wish to retract it and was willing the same might be recorded.
