JOHNSON of the City of Louisville, State of Kentucky... for and in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred dollars paid in four equal installments the first due 1 March 1819 for $300, the 2nd on 15 March 1820, the 3rd 1st March 1821 for $300, 4th due 1 March 1822 for $300... hath granted, bargained and sold to said JOHNSON a tract of land lying in Bullitt County... beginning at a blue ash tree in the line between BIRKHEAD and the estate now of late John BUZAN... thence south to the corner of the land of the late Moses HOW... containing 100 acres more or less. DEATS of same... for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar in hand paid hath granted bargained and sold the following personal property: one bay horse colt, two years old last spring, one cow and calf, one stove, one bed and bedding and bedstead and one bureau and five head of sheep... the following condition towit: that whereas the party of the 1st part is indebted to the party of the second part for the sum of thirty dollars and eighty five cents by note dated 2 March 1842 due 25 Dec 1842. Now if said William DEATS shall pay off and discharge said note when it becomes due then the above of Mortgage to be void, else to remain in full force and virtue in law. (signed) Wm.
