C. M. CARTMELL (damage on the film here for a few words...) Enoch (?) M. GORE and Marie (?) E. CARTMELL, Administrators to be administered, and no failure of assets... descended to Nathan J. CARTMELL, Kitty Ann CARTMELL, Marten S CARTMELL, Mary E. CARTMELL, William R. CARTMELL, Willson H. CARTMELL, John L. CARTMELL, Maria L. CARTMELL children and heirs of the said H. C. M CARTMELL dec'd directed to Sheriff for Nathaniel P. SAUNDERS, then Sheriff of Bullitt Co. to levy and execute on the 28th day of October 1839 and thereupon said Deputy Sheriff levied said Execution on one hundred acres of land, a part of the home tract of land on which the widow and heirs of said CARTMELL, dec'd then live to be laid off on the upper end and said Sheriff caused said one hundred acres to be valued agreeably to Law by Charles LEE and Alfred J. ROBARDS house keepers of said County, and in every respect qualified, valued the same at four dollars and fifty cents per acre and said COMBS, Deputy Sheriff as aforesaid caused said land to be advertised agreeably to be sold at the Court house door in Shepherdsville on the 9th day of December 1839 being County Court day and then and there said COMBS, Deputy as aforesaid offered and cried said one hundred acres of land agreeably to Law where Amon SHECKLES being the highest and best bidder therefore became the purchaser thereof for the sum of eighty five dollars 34 1/2 cents on a Credit of three months, no person offering or being willing to take a less number of acres of said land and pay said Debt, the Same having been offered and cried in that way. The said COMBS deputy sheriff as aforesaid had been unable to procure a levy from said Administrators of any other Estate, they representing that they had no assets of said H. B. M. CARTMELL's Estate in their hands and none were know to Said Sheriff a reference to the judgement of said Bullitt Circuit Court in the name of Ignatious BROWN against said CARTMELL's administrators and heirs and the said Execution and Sheriffs return thereon and certificate of valuation filed, will more fully and at large appear. And afterwards said Amon SHECKLES for a valuable consideration paid him by Nathan J. CARTMELL transferred said said and one hundred acres of Land to him said Nathan J. CARTMELL and directed and does hereby direct the Sheriff to make a Deed for said One hundred acres of Land to him and said Nathan J. CARTMELL and for that purpose becomes a party to the Deed to give his assent to said Transfer and sale and Deed to said N. J. CARTMELL but without any liability on him in any event whatever, for loss of land or otherwise. Now therefore this Indenture made this twentieth day of January in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty five between Nathaniel P. SAUNDERS late Sheriff of Bullitt County in the State of Kentucky and James COMBS, late deputy for said SAUNDERS, late Sheriff as aforesaid of the one part and Amon SHECKLES of the second part and Nathan J. CARTMELL of the third part. Witnesseth: That the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the promises the sale and purchase aforesaid and the payment of the purchase money, and said party of the second part for and in consideration of one dollar to him in hand paid and other valuable considerations thereunto moving, have sold and conveyed and by these presents do sell convey and confirm unto Nathan J.
