16 Mar 1837  Spencer Co. Deed Book D p. 508  Rebecca CARTMELL, Widow and 
Devisee of Jacob CARTMELL, dec’d to Nicholas H. CARTMELL, James NELSON and 
Eliza his wife, formerly CARTMELL, James TIMMINS and Sarah his wife, formerly 
CARTMELL, Catherine HIGDON, formerly CARTMELL, being the heirs of Jacob 
CARTMELL Dec’d of the County of Nelson, State of Kentucky of the one part to 
Reuben COLLINGS of the County of Spencer... for and in consideration of the 
sum of seventeen hundred eighty four dollars in hand paid, grant, bargain, 
sell and convey a parcel of land in Spencer County containing 223 acres on 
Salt River.  The rest of the deed including signatures has been damaged and 
was unreadable except the last signature “Salley (X) TIMMONS”.  It was 
recorded by the Spencer Co. clerk 28 or 8 Dec 1837
