ROUSE having this day bound himself to pay off and discharge Sundry executions against me, and which executions have recently been levied on my equity in and to two negro slaves, which slaves have been conveyed by me to William B. HAMILTON of Mt. Washington, County and State aforesaid and which deed of mortgage is of record in the clerk’s office of the Bullitt County Court - all my equity, interest, rite of title in and to the said negro slaves and their future increase and bind myself, my heirs and assigns. And by these presents do sell and convey and confirm to him the said ROUSE his heirs and assigns all my equity in and to the Said Negro slaves: And also for and in consideration of the part of the consideration above alluded to upon the part of the said ROUSE, I do by these presents grant, bargain, sell, confirm and convey to him the said ROUSE by his assigns and executors all my equity interest and rite and title to a certain tract or parcel of land, and also all my equity, interest, rite and title in and to three negro slaves in the possession of my mother Rhoda SIMMONS which land and negroes have been conveyed to me by deed of mortgage to William W. SWEARINGEN for the Sum of four hundred and ninety two Dollars and fifty four cents which deed of mortgage is of record in the Clerks office of this Bullitt County Court. To him the said ROUSE’S only behoof and benefit provided and it is clearly understood that the said CRENSHAW shall well and truly pay off the several sums which the said negroes and Land and mortgage to HAMILTON, SWEARINGEN and the several Executions for which the said ROUSE by these presents have made himself liable... in that case this mortgage is to be null and void otherwise to remain in full... as witness my hand and seal this 17th day of February 1840.
