1 July 1835 Bullitt County Deed Book H p. 311  JOHN L. DUVALL of the County of Bullitt 
and State of Kentucky of the one part and William HILL, Executor of JOHN PURCELL, 
Dec’d and ANTHONY SHAWLER of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said JOHN L. DUVALL 
for and in consideration of the Securityship of the said WILLIAM HILL, Executor and 
SHAWLER to him in a Bond given by the said DUVALL in the clerks office of the Bullitt 
County Court as Guardian to BENJAMIN DRAGOO the consideration of said Bond is dated 
(left blank) the said DUVALL hath this day placed and pledged to HILL and SHAWLER the 
following tract or parcel of Land lying in the County of Bullitt, Kentucky on the 
waters of Crooked and being a part of three hundred acre survey made in the name of 
JOHN CARR containing fifty acres more... the Deed from WILLIAM CRAWFORD to said DUVALL 
is referred to for certainty dated 29th of August 1822 and which deed was recorded in 
the Clerks office of Bullitt County Court 29th of August 1822 for their Security ship 
for said DUVALL, guardian of the aforesaid.

and yes the deed truly reads on the waters of Crooked - no Crooked Creek, Crooked Run, 
etc. just plain Crooked.
