DAVIS; CALDWELL; CHALFANT; HALBERT

This Indenture made this twenty ninth day of August eighteen hundred and 
sixteen between John DAVIS of Perry County in the state of Indiana of the one 
part and John CALDWELL of Bullitt County and state of Kentucky of the other 
part witnesseth that the said John DAVIS for and in consideration of the sum of 
Eight dollars Current money to him in hand paid by the said CALDWELL the 
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Hath granted Bargained and sold and by 
these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said John CALDWELL a 
certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of 
Bullitt and on salt river containing forty acres and bounded by the lands of 
Abner CHALFANT, Thomas DAVIS and salt river and the knobs. To Begin at 
CHALFANTS lower corner on the river then binding on CHALFANTS line to the knobs 
and with the knobs to Thomas DAVIS' line and with Thomas DAVIS' line to salt 
river and up the same to the Beginning including the Improvements whereon the 
said CALDWELL now lives and being part of Robert DAVIS' 900 acres survey. 

To Have and to Hold the said tract of land and appurtenances unto the said John 
CALDWELL and his heirs forever to and for his and their only proper use benefit 
and behoof forever and the said John DAVIS for himself and his heirs Exors and 
administrators doth covenant promise and agree to and with the said John 
CALDWELL Than the before described tract of land and appurtenances to ____ & 
his heirs assigns and admirs shall forever warrant and defend to the said John 
CALDWELL his heirs &c against the Claim of himself and his heirs and every 
other person or persons Whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same. In 
testimony whereof the said John DAVIS hath set his hand and seal this day and 
year first above mentioned.

I James HALBERT Clerk of the County Court in and for the county aforesaid do 
certify that on the 29th day of August 1816 the foregoing Indenture was 
personally _____ and acknowledged by John DAVIS a party thereto to be his act 
and Deed for the purposes therein mentioned. Whereupon I have truly Recorded 
the same together with this Certificate in my office. Given under my hand this 
30th day of December 1816
