Deed Bk. K p. 156 Whereas Nathan HARRIS of Bullitt Co. KY entered himself security for me in a note executed to Simeon JONES of Spencer Co. for the sum of Forty Dollars payable in Twelve months from the date (date not now recollected) which note will be due in about twor or perhaps three months: now to secure said HARRIS in his Security ship for me in said note to said JONES as aforesaid I do by these presents pact and pledge to said HARRIS my dark bay mare about six years old and her sorrel horse colt one year old mid-spring, which mare and Colt I do hereby deliver into the possession of said Nathan HARRIS and do and will warrant and defend the title of said mare & colt from the lawful claims of all persons whatever. It is expressly understood that in the event I shall pay and satisfy said JONES the amount of said note aforesaid with the Interest and all Cash that may accrue in the event of a suit being brought by said JONES on said Note then and in that Case the said bound to recovery said mare and Colt to me, otherwise this mortgage is to remain in full force & virtue: And it is agreed that after the delivery of said mare and Colt to named HARRIS him to plan the same again in my possession to be kept by me for him at my cost and charges and I am not at liberty to sell or trade said mare and Colt or either of them to any person except for the payment of the note aforesaid and in that case only by his permission.
