Deed Bk C, p 31 MOCKABEE; HOWELL; SHEPHERD; RYAN; POPE; HALBERT This Indenture made this twenty seventh day of August eighteen hundred and sixteen Between William MOCKBEE & Jemima his wife of Bullitt County and state of Kentucky of the one part and Benjamin HOWELL of the same County and State of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William MOCKBEE & Jemima his wife for and in consideration of twenty dollars Current money to them in hand paid before the sealing and delivery hereof Have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Benjamin HOWELL his heirs &c a certain piece or parcel of ground situate lying and being in said county & adjoining the Town of Shepherdsville and bounded as follows towit. Beginning at a stake the North west corner of an half acre sold and conveyed by Adam SHEPHERD to said MOCKBEE and adjoining RYAN Running thence south eighty three & a half degrees east ninety nine feet five inches to a stake bordeer of George N POPES lotts, thence south six and a half degrees west on e hundred and twenty seven feet to a stake, thence north eighty three and a half degrees west ninety nine feet five inches to a stake near MOCKBEES fence, thence north six and a half degrees East one hundred and twenty seven feet to the Beginning, being part of half an acre of ground conveyed by said SHEPHERD to said MOCKBEE by Deed duly Recorded in the County Court or reference being thereto had will more fully appear. To Have and to Hold the said tract or piece of land with all its appurtenances to him the said Benjamin HOWELL his heirs &c forever and the said William MOCKBEE and Jemima his wife for themselves their heirs &c do Covenant and agree to and with the said Benjamin HOWELL his heirs &c that the said piece or parcel of ground is now and hereafter shall be free & clear of and from all right & title of Dower or other incumbrances whatsoever and that they the sd William and Jemima will and their heirs &c shall warrant and forever defend the said piece of ground from themselves and their heirs &c and all and every person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same. In testimony whereof the said William MOCKBEE and Jemima his wife have hereto set their hands & seals on the day and year first written. Signed, sealed & delivered Wm MOCKBEE [seal] in presence of Jemima MOCKBEE [seal] Bullitt County Sct I James HALBERT Clerk of the County Court in and for the County aforesaid do certify that on this day the foregoing Deed was personally acknowledged by William MOCKBEE & Jemima his wife to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned - and the said Jemima being examined by me separately & apart from her said husband declared that she does the same freely and voluntarily without any threats or persuasion from her said husband freely relinquishes her right of Dower of in and to the land therein mentioned - Whereupon I have truly Recorded the same together with this Certificate in my said office.
