Deed Bk D, p 534, 535 BULLITT to NEWBOLT; HAMILTON; McDANIEL/McDANALD; DICKINSON; POPE This Indenture made this day of May 1822 between Cuthbert BULLITT of the one part and William NEWBOLT of Nelson County of the other part witnesseth that whereas by Contract bearing date the 25th day of October 1814 the sd Cuthbert BULLITT and als Elizabeth B. DICKINSON sold their interest in BULLITTS Lick and in one thousand acres of land adjoining to Henry CRIST for the sum of two thousand dollars the interest of sd BULLITT being one tenth, and the interest of sd Elizabeth being one fifth of the sd lick and one thousand acres and whereas the sd CRIST on the 7th day of June 1819 assigned and transferred to William NEWBOULT all his rights and interest in and to the afs'd purchase by endorsement on the original article or contract now in the hands of the sd Elizabeth and whereas the said Elizabeth has acknowledged the performance by sd trust of the sd contract so far as it was intended for her benefit, and has conveyed her interest in sd lick and land to the said William NEWBOLT , and whereas sd BULLITT acknowledges the reciet of the purchase money on his part (to wit) six hundred sixty six and two thirds dollars in three negroes towit HENNA, MARIA and JULIANA, conveyed and delivered to him by Nicholas CRIST in discharge of the Debt of Henry CRIST, and whereas by the original contract sd BULLITT was entitled to a mortgage on his sd interest to Secure the title to sd negroes should it be ever questioned, now therefore this Indenture witnesseth that in Consideration of the premises the sd Cuthbert BULLITT hath this day conveyed and doth hereby alien infeoff ? and convey unto the said NEWBOLT all his interest in the sd Lick and land it being an undivided tract part to have and to hold to him the sd NEWBOLT and his heirs forever, and the sd BULLITT covenants to warrant and defend the title to the sd interest hereby sold and conveyed against all persons and claims whatever, ____ it is clearly understood the above conveyance is made on the condition that a L____ is to be retained and sd interest herein conveyed for the Security of the title to the above named negroes until other satisfactory security shall be given for the title of sd negroes. In testimony of the premised sd BULLITT has signed sealed delivered the above indenture on this 25th of May 1822 Cuthbert BULLITT [seal] In presence of Edw H. HAMILTON Josephias [X] McDANALD E. B. DICKINSON State of Kentucky I George F. POPE Clerk of the County Court of Bullitt County do certify that on this day the within Indenture was produced to me in my office and proved by the oaths of Edward H. HAMILTON and Josephias Mc DANIEL witnesses thereto to be the act and deed of Cuthbert BULLITT for the purposes therin mentioned, whereupon I have recorded the same together with this certificate in my said office as required by Law.
