Witnesseth that the said Benjamin Lasley and his wife for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred & eighty pounds to him in hand paid the receipt whereof we doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell and confirm unto him the s'd Jonathan Ricketts a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the said county Bullitt on the waters of Wilson Creek and on the north of the said Smiths preemption & bounded as followeth (to wit) Beginning at a beech in said Smiths preemption line and running thence north fifty nine degrees East forty three poles to two sugar tree in James Finn's Settlement line thence north forty five degrees West twenty poles with said Finns line to his north west corner two white oaks and hickory thence north forty five degrees east ninety poles with said Finn's line to two sugar trees & Ellum [?] thence north forty five degrees west one hundred & eighty poles to a pine & white oak thence south forty five degrees west one hundred and thirty five poles to a sugar tree, poplar and beech on the south side of a hill thence south forty five degrees east one hundred and ninety poles to the beginning containing one hundred and fifty acres it being the same land which was granted to the s'd Smith by patent on the eighth day of March 1796. To have and to hold the s'd one hundred and fifty acres of land with all improvements & appurtenances thereon and thereunto belonging to him the s'd Jonathan Ricketts & his heirs forever to his and their only proper use, _____, & behoof whatsoever & the said Benjamin Lasley doth hereby covenant to warrant and defend the right and title of the said one hundred & fifty acres of land and its appurtenances unto him the said Jonathan Ricketts & his heirs against the claims of him the said Lasley and his heirs and against the claims of all persons whatsoever. In Testimony whereof the said Benjamin Lasley & Sarah his wife have hereunto subscribed their names & affixed their seals the day and year first written. For and in consideration of the sum of One hundred dollars current money to them in hand paid have granted bargained the following tract or parcel of land ... containing fifty four acres be the same more or less being part of a survey made in the name of John CARR of Two hundred acres lying in said County of Bullitt and on Crooked creek and its waters..(signed) John L. SHAWLER Recorded 29 Jul 1836 Bullitt County KY Court *********************************************************************** Transcribed by: Thomas Ricketts ricketts@bellsouth.net Date: January 2002 *********************************************************************** Bullitt County, Kentucky Deed Book C, p. 24 Executed 1812 Recorded August 23, 1813 [see Note 1] This indenture made this [blank] day of [blank] eighteen hundred and twelve Peter Rickets and Mary his wife of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky of the one part and Jonathan Rickets of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth the said Peter Rickets & Mary his wife for and in consideration of the sum of ten Dollars to them the said Peter Rickets and Mary his wife in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt which is hereby acknowledged have given granted bargained and sold and by these presents do give grant bargain and sell unto the said Jonathan Rickets a certain tract or parcel of land Containing three acres lying and being in the County of Bullitt and state aforesaid on the waters of Wilsons Creek bounded as followeth Towit Beginning at a hickory running thence N 45 E 48 poles to a cherry tree, white oak, & red bud thence S 45 E 10 poles to a dogwood ironwood and ash thence S 45 W 48 poles to a walnut and four small red bud bushes thence N 45 W 10 poles to the Beginning. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and the Hired tennents & appurtenances to the same belonging unto him the said Jonathan Rickets and his heirs to the only proper use & behoof of the said Jonathan Rickets and his heirs forever and the said Peter Rickets and Mary his wife do covenant and agree to warrant and forever defend the said tract of land with all its appurtenances unto him the said Jonathan Rickets and his heirs against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever and further do give unto the said Jonathan Rickets full and peacible possession of the said land & appurtenances thereunto belonging. In witness whereof the said Peter Rickets and Mary his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first within written.
