Deed Book A2 p. 43 John SCOTT and James SCOTT his son of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky of the one part and William LUX of the Same County and State of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John SCOTT being desirous to bind his said son James as an apprentice to the said William LUX to be instructed in the Trade or occupation of House Joiner - Now the said James SCOTT freely consenting to become bound to the said William LUX for the purpose aforesaid, they the said John & James SCOTT doth by these presents undertake that the said James shall dwell and continue with and will faithfully serve him the said William LUX from and after the date hereof until the full end and term of four years fully to be compleated and ended - during all which time the said James shall obey the lawful commands of the said William LUX promtly and readily - He shall not play at Cards, Dice or any other unlawful game nor shall he frequent Taverns or other public places without his knowledge or consent and on one word he shall behave and demean himself towards the said William LUX as becometh an honest upright and faithful apprentice for and during the aforesaid term of four years - and the said William LUX on his part doth Covenant to and with the said John & James SCOTT that he the said William will teach and instruct the said James so far as in his power lays the said James the Trade or occupation of House Joiner and the said William doth further Covenant and agree to give the said James one year Schooling and to find him during his apprenticeship bed board, washing and Cloathing fit and convenient for a labouring man - and lastly at the end of the term of four years aforesaid the said William is to furnish the said James with a Jack plain, fore (?) plain, Smoothing plain, Jointer, Handsaw, Rule and pair of compasses.
