The paper is quite aged, as is the binder it was in, and it was typed, not word processed. There is no copyright date or information on the papers BUZAN, John Virginia #S.35800 On February 20th of the year 1821, in Bullitt county in the state of Kentucky at the age of 64 years, the said pensioner appeared in open court and stated that he had first enlisted to serve in the command of Captain Andrew WAGGONER in the Twelfth Viriginia Regiment under the command of Colonel John NEVILLE in the month of August of the year 1776. He stated that from Pittsburgh they had then marched to Fort Gattania and from there back again to Pittsburgh. They had then marched to Winchester and them from there to Philadelphia and they then joined the main army under the command of General WASHINGTON. From there they then marched to Brandywine and the said pensioner was then at the famous engagement at that place on September 11 of the year 1777. They then next marched to Paoli and were in the battle there under the command of General WAYNE and from there they then marched Germantown and were in the engagement at that place. The said pensioner was honorably discharged from the service of his country on April 10 of the year 1778 and he first applied for a pension on July 21 of the year 1819 and his pension certificate was numbered 14177. By trade he was a farmer and his wife was at the age of 64 years. He had two children residing with him, a daughter at the age of 22 years and a son at the age of 16 years. His property was worth $125.33 1/3. On July 21 of the year 1819 in Bullitt County in the state of Kentucky at the age of 62 years, the said pensioner appeared in open court and stated that he had enlisted for a tour of eighteen months on October 10 of the year 1778 in the state of Virginia and that he had then been discharged at Valley Forge in the state of Pennsylvania an that he had served during the battle of Brandywine and also in the Battle of Germantown as well as the Battle of Paoli. The affidavit of Levin COOPER was also given at the time and in the same place as the foregoing. The said deponenet stated and swore that the said pensioner really did serve as he had stated and he further swears that he himself saw the said pensioner during the War of the Revolution at Fort Pitt, in the month of April of the year 1777 and also at White Marsh in the month of November of the year 1777. The said pensioner further adds that they had been raised as neighbors to each other. The said pensioner, John Buzan, was on the Kentucky Roll of Pensions at the rate of $8, per month to commence on July 21 of the year 1819 and his certificate of pension for that amount was issued on September 17 of the year 1819 and it was then sent to R. C. ANDERSON at Louisville in the State of Kentucky.
