The paper is quite aged, as is the binder it was in, and it was typed, not word processed. There is no copyright date or information on the papers POHON, William Virginia #R.8298 On November 19 of the year 1832, in Bullitt County in the state of Kentucky the said pensioner at the age of 75 years made the following statements. He said that he had entered the service for a tour of eighteen months to serve under the command of Lt. Colonel Arthur CAMPBELL. He was then sent under the command of Sergeant John GRIFFIN to Hillsborough in the State of North Carolina and there he was then place in the company under the command of Captain LAPSBY and also under the command of Lt. LONG, in the battalion under the command of Major RIDDLE and in the regiment under the command of Col. HOWES and Adjutant RUSSELL. They then marched from Hillsborough to Charlestown in the state of South Carolina and they then crossed the Dan River and went to Guilford Court House in the state of North Carolina to serve under the command of General Nathaniel GREEN and they then and there had a battle with the British under the command of Lord CORNWALLIS. They then marched to and lay siege to a place by the name of Ninety Six and they also lay seige to Camden. From there they then went to Eutaw Springs and from there to Salisbury in the state of South Carolina and there the said pensioner was honorably discharged. The said pensioner was born in London in the country of Great Britian and on September 1 of the year 1757. He came to America at the age of 18 years. He had entered the service while he was residing on the Holston in the sated of Virginia in the year 1780 and he had served for a period of one year and eight months. The affidavit of Henry F. COLFUS and Henry SMALL was also given at the same time and in the same place as the foregoing. The said deponenets stated and swore that at one time they had been both well and favorably acquainted with the said pensioner and they also swear that he was reputed to have been a veracious man. On June 10 of the year 1839 in Bullitt County in the state of Kentucky at the age of eighty two years the said pensioner appeared in open court and stated that he had been suspended from the pension list and was not on the rolls and he asked that his claim for a pension be reviewed. The affidavit of Henry SMALL, Jacob MILLER and James SAMUEL was also given at the same time and in the same place as the foregoing. The said deponenets stated and swore that at one time they had been both well and favorably acquainted with the said pensioner and they also swear that he was reputed to have been a man of very great voracity. On March 23 of the year 1840 in Shepherdsville in Bullitt county in the state of Kentucky the said pensioner again appeared before open court and stated that he wished to petition the Senate and House of Representative asking them to review his claim for a pension and asking also that he be paid a pension.
