Therefore it is ordered that the said schedule and Oath be recorded and certified to wit On this 20th day of February 1821 personally appeared in open court being a Court of Record for the thirteenth Judicial District of Kentucky by the Common Law Statute Law of this state John Buzan aged sixty four years residing in Bullitt County who being first sworn according to law doth on his oath declare that he served in the Revolutionary War as follows. He enlisted in Captain Andrew Waggoner’s Company 12th Virginia Regiment Commanded by Col. John Nevill in August 1776 and from Pittsburg he marched to Fort Catiania and from there he marched again to Pittsburg, from thence to Winchester and then to Philadelphia and joined the main Army commanded by General Washington and then marched to Brandywine where he was in the engagement of the 11th of September 1777 called the Battle of Brandywine from there he marched to the Paoli Commanded by General Wayne and then he marched to German Town where he was in the Battle of German Town and continued in the service until the 10th day of April 1778 when he was discharged. The number of his Pension is 14,177 and the date of his original application is the 21st day of July 1819. And I do solemnly Swear that I was a resident Citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March 1818 and that I have not since that time by gift, sold or in any manner disposed of my property or any part thereof with intent thereby so to diminish it to bring myself within the provisions of an act of Congress entitled and act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land & naval service of the United States signed on the 18th day of March 1818. And that I have not nor has anyone in Trust for me any property or security contracts or debts due me nor have I any income other than what is contained in the schedule hereto annexed and described by me to wit. 1 Horse 11 years old, 1 Ditto 10 years old 1 ditto 6 years old-two Cows and one Calf one heifer, one yearling Calf one sow & pigs-l1 head of sheep-one Barshear plough. One pair of Geer - one falling ax and mattock - one common Desk cupboard and two weeding hoes. This declarant is by occupation a farmer. He has lost the sight of his right eye and is very much reduced in strength. His wife is aged sixty-four years, her health is not good- He has living with him two children, the eldest a daughter aged 22 years yet single, the other a son named Philip aged 16 and has been a cripple from birth by not having the use of his right arm and right leg and is of unsound mind. Pope Clerk of the Bullitt Circuit Court do hereby Certify that the forgoing Oath and the schedule thereto annexed are truly copied from the Record of the said County, and I do further Certify that it is the opinion of the said Court that the total amount in value of the property exhibited in the aforesaid schedule is one hundred and twenty five dollars thirty three and one third cents. Waggoner’s Company and saw him again in November 1777 at White Marsh-that he was raised a neighbor with the ad Buzan and has no doubt of his full service for eighteen months-Witness my hand and seal this 21 day of July 1819. Oldham who is the sole and presiding Judge of the said Court and that due faith and credit is and ought to be given to all his official acts as such. State of Kentucky, ss On this 21st day of July 1819, before me, the subscriber, one of the Judges of the Circuit Court of the State aforesaid for the said district, personally appeared John Buzan aged 62 years, resident in Jefferson [crossed out] Bullitt [written above] County in the said district, who, being by me first duly sworn, according to law, doth, on his oath, make the following declaration, in order to obtain the provision made by the last act of Congress, entitled An act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the revolutionary war: That he, the said Buzan enlisted for the term of eighteen months on the 10th day of March (crossed out] October written above] in the year 1776 in [blank] in the state of V. in the company commanded by Captain Andrew Waggoner of the Regiment commanded by Colonel John Neville in the line of the State of Virginia on the Continental Establishment; that he continue to serve in the said corps, or in the service of the United States, until the 10th April 1778 when he was discharged from service in Valley Forge state of P that he was in the battles of Brandywine, Germantown & Paolia and that he is in reduced circumstances, and stands in need of the assistance of his country for support; and that he has no other evidence now in his power of his said services. Sworn to and declared before me the day and year aforesaid. I, John P. Oldham Judge, & c. as aforesaid, do certify that it appears to my satisfaction, that the said John Buzan did serve in the revolutionary war, as stated in the preceding declaration, against the comon enemy, for the term of nine months at one time on the continental establishment; and I now transmit the proceedings and testimony taken and had before me, to the Secretary for the Department of War, pursuant the directions of the aforementioned act of Congress. I am also satisfied that he needs the assistance of his country for support. Given under my hand & seal this 21st day of July 1819. John P.
