January 1, 1924 Cold and clear, killed hogs at Sams. Mabel helped; I kept Lillian. Boys sawed wood. (Mabel is Mabel HARRIS McAFEE her daughter and baby is Lillian Dean McAFEE SPURR) January 2, 1924 Sleet and hard rain, read about all day. wrote to Mrs. CARVER. chldren started to school. Otis BROWN, Ruby PERRY, Lillian HUBBARD teachers. Lillian and Harvy married Xmas week. January 3, 1924 Clear and cold January 4, 1924 Clear and cold, blizzerd before ten o’clock. Come to Lillian’s this moring. Ruth and myself went to Bertha HALL’s in afternoon. back to L’s stayed all night. (Lillian is Lillian HARRIS PARRISH, her daughter) January 5, 1924 Clear below zero , kept in the house all day and read come home in the afternoon. January 6, 1924 Clear and cold, below zero. home all day. Frank and Martha here in afternoon. wrote to Brownie. Mrs. Edna HALL very bad. January 7, 1924 No entry January 8, 1924 Clear and pleasant. started out to see Mrs. Edna but instead went to a ???????? at Ada ANDERSONS. Mrs. OWEN spoke, peres Zell. Martha, Lannie, Lounettte. Mrs. MOTHERSHEAD, Nancy and Hassie Sallie McC and Mrs. CASEY, Lillian Ada and myself. January 9, 1924 Warm, went to see Mrs. Edna found her very bad around to LIllians awhile She and Susie Mae are talking about goin to the city tomorrow. Mrs. SHARP baby buried. January 10, 1924 Rained all day, stayed home and pressed my clothes. January 11, 1924 Colder, went around to Lillian’s in afternoon, Hassie and myself sat up with Mrs. Edna left there at nine o’clock. January 12, 1924 Warmer, left Mrs. P’s at nine went over to Rebecca’s awhile come to Lillians until after dinner went around to Ruths and Marthas awhile, came home at four and am now going to bed, found Mr. OVERTON this morning. January 13, 1924 Snowed last night clear this morning, went to church went home with Lizzie McGEE had such a nice day, so pleasant to be with old friends, Lillian and Susie Mae went to the city. S. M. and Marianana are going to Mr. OVERTON’s funeral in the morning. January 14, 1924 Clear and cold at hom all day. Mrs. Linnie ?????? little while, Mrs. Susie here in afternoon. Mrs. NUTT’s funeral at the M. E. Church Bro. COAKLEY preached. Susie Mae come and brought my dress was delighted with it. ( M. E. is the Methodist Church) January 15, 1924 Cloudy and warmer. Mrs. Edna HALL died at five o’clock this morining walked out to Mrs. PORTERs in afternoon heard Mrs. Lum HALL died this morning rain when I went to bed. January 16, 1924 Rain a. m. cloudy and cooler, ?? went around to Lillian’s in morning went with them to MRs. FAnnies and to the funeral. pall bearers Paxton, frank. Tom, Wlater, Marris Sam, ????? Susie Mare, Georgia Rebecca, Lillian, Mrs. Lum HALL buried here the same hour. January 17, 1924 cold and cloudy kept Lillian and Mabel to M. S. Mary Dell at supper here. Frank, Boss and Banty come over and played cards. Lucian PARRISH stayed all night. (Lillian is Lillian Dean McAFEE, M. S. is probably Missionary Society meeting) January 18, 1924 Cloudy in the morning, clear in the after noon at home, rebecca here a while in afternoon, Mr.s Linnie down awhile at night. January 19, 1924 warming morning, cooler toward night rained by ten o’clock. went to MRs. ????? awhile then to Ruth’s and Marthas Martha came home with Frank and truck, stayed all night at Lillians Woodards camp broke up until April\ January 20, 1924 Cold and clear went to church stayed in all the afternoon, Bro. JONES preached at night, sure a fine sermon. came home Paxton and Ruth went to Shepherdsville for a few days, Dr. SMITH came for them. January 21, 1924 Cold and clear, at home all day. Mrs. Susie in awhile, Dick RIDGEWAY girl eleven years old was buried here. January 22, 1924 note quite so cold, took my dress up to Mrs. Linnies this morning after went over to town went to Ada’s heard about Gertrude was so sorry went Mrs. McCLURES ten present. January 23, 1924 pleasant, around Mrs. MOTHERSHEAD, was over awhile, went tover to see Mrs. LONG, looks bad. Woodard and a few back at camp. January 24, 1924 Sleet and rain. Lillian and Martha Came in the morning spent the day, Hassie and Ada in afternoon, put the quilt in that, Mrs. Edna gave tot he M. S. done my first quilting, may have to take it out. Frank and Martha ate supper had a game of cards. January 25, 1924 Cold and windy, at home all day, intended to go see Mrs. Anna SHOWALTER’s after dinner but Mrs. Emma C. came to quilt, so I stayed at home Hassie came later and we got it half done. Mitch MOORs baby was burried here today. January 26, 1924 Cold and clear. Martha was feeling bad stayed with her Frank came home cold and tired. had some good books to read so we decided not to to supper. Frank went to the HALL for it. Paxton and Ruth came home. (Paxton is Paxton PARRISH so of Lillian HARRIS and Thomas Addison PARRISH) January 27, 1924 Clear and warmer. Martha feeling better. I went to church, stayed in the rest of the day came home and went to bed at seven o’clock. January 28, 1924 Clear and warmer Mr.s Linnie down a while in the morning ladies came and quilted in afternoon, finished quilt Mrs. MOTHERSHEAD, Lizzie W., and myself walked up to Marthas’ and R, Paxton not feeling well. The stork visited Lucian PORTER and Bert KENNEDY and left a little son. January 29, 1924 warm rain , ?????? and went to Rebecca, in afternoon room crowed like to the but not the way it was delivered to much rough neck, ate supper with R. we went to the PTA several good talks come home in rain and mud. January 30, 1924 Cloudy, cleared by noon. went to see Daisy BARNS then to the S.........Mrs.. Linnie and myself went to see Miss Anna up to see Martha, hom aLillian went to the ???? meeting in City. January 31, 1924 clear and pleasant Hassie down a while in morning telling us about her trip to the meeting after dinner went up to Mrs. Linnies and ripped my dress. February 1, 1924 Pleasant went to see Nancy and Mrs. MOTHERSHEAD we had a fine time together went to LIllians to stay all night thundered today. (Lillian is daughter Lillian HARRIS who married Tom PARRISH) February 2, 1924 Sunshining, at last, went to Martha´s and R´s was invited to MRs. Linnies for supper, but decided not to go read Sister Sue. (Martha and Ruth (R) are married to Frank and Paxton PARRISH sons of Lillian HARRIS and Tom PARRISH) February 3, 1924 Sunshine warm, at L...... around at Franks after dinner went to church Mabel was there came home with her. Bellwood and Maurice PORTER here stay all night. R. Lee and Wade walke to Smithville this afternoon. Woodrow WILSON died. ( R. Lee and Wade, are sons of Mabel HARRIS and Robert McAFEE, and grandson's of Mary Ann MILLER and John Wesley HARRIS and Wade McAFEE and Geraldine HALL) February 4, 1924 Cloudy, cleared and windy home in morning went to L´s afternoon finished my book Thundered to day. (L is Lillian PARRISH's) February 5, 1924 Rain then snow home all day, heard Angie YATES had a little boy, week old, did not go to K, February 6, 1924 Cold, snow Hassie and VAllie ???? the quilt ate dinner with us, others came in afternoon and quilted, went up to Mrs. MOTHERSHEAD, stayed all night with her. (Hassie is Tallahasse HARRIS married Preston PARRISH) February 7, 1924 Cold cloudy, left Mrs. MOTHERSHEADS then went to L´s and the children, a little while, come home, crowd here to quilt finished before night. February 8, 1924 Clear, Cold, home but went up to Mrs. Linnie this morn. and had my dress fit, Mabel went over ????? in evening Ella Here a while MRs. ARMSTRONG is going to bind the quilt. February 9, 1924 Fair, home all day Mabel went over in town and up to Martha´s Susie Mae over awhile late. ( Mabel is writers other daughter Mabel HARRIS m. Robert McAFEE) February 10, 1924 Fair, went to church ate dinner at Lillian´s around at Ruths awhile then home Mabel and Bob went to church, herd Vern, Jane Married since October. February 11, 1924 Snowed nearly all day February 12, 1924 Cloudy and cool started around to Li´s but stopped at Martha´s and mended the coat for here R was sick, last night but all right today after lunch went to L´s did not to K. February 13, 1924 Cloudy, clear at Sunset, went up to Mrs. Linnie´s this morning, went to see Hester she is looking bad, went to M. S. twenty two present, Sara McAFEE joined both parts had a splendid meeting. Hear Woodard back at ???? February 14, 1924 Clear and pleasant Alein SMITH´s birthday, gave her a hankerchef shower, she got forty two I went over to see Mrs. MOTHERSHEAD and Nancy went to L´s for supper went to the ?????? Mary Dell, Virginia Beatrice and myself joined. February 15, 1924 Clear and warm, so pretty I could not stay in starte to see Mrs. SHOUSE, and Cora, before I got thier word L wasnted me to go to Mrs. CRENSHAW´s and before we got there ???? their going away so went to Barbara´s an had a pleasant afternoon stopped at Martha´s and Mrs. ?????? awhile. February, 16, 1924 Cold, rain went to Lillians late to stay all night. February 17, 1924 rained all night, went to church. LIzzie and Hubert, Frank, M__, P___and R all ate dinner with L____ did not got to church at night.(Frank and M are Frank and Martha PARRISH, P and R are Paxton and Ruth PARRISH and L is Lillian HARRIS PARRISH. February 18, 1924 Cloudy, home all morning, Ada sent for me in the afternoon, first to talk Mrs. RYAN and MOTHERSHEAD came so we could not do very much gossip but had a nice time. run up to M_____a minute first see how they were getting along. (M is probably Mabel HARRIS MCAFEE.) February 19, 1924 Rained all day I stayed in all day and pieced on quilt, Mabel got a letter from Harris he is at Bloomfield. (Harris is Harris Hall McAFEE son of Robert McAFEE and Mabel HARRIS) February 20, 1924 Cold an snow Susie Mae come over and ate dinner with us after dinner Mabel went to see Mrs. Susie and Hester bother better. ( Susie Mae PARRISH daughter of Tom and Lillian HARRIS PARRISH) February 21, 1924 Cloudy, cold ironed in the morning went over in town after dinner went to R____and M__ then to L__ for a little while (R is Ruth PARRISH, M is Martha PARRISH, L is Lillian HARRIS PARRISH) February 22, 1924 Sunshining and warm went up to Mrs. Linnie´s Mr. Charlie right sick Hassie down awhile in morning. February 23, 1924 Cloudy home all day went to L´s late and stayed all night. February 24, 1924 Snowing nearly all day L and I went to church after dinner around to M´s and R´s come home late found Bob with sore throat, maybe ????????baby with bad cold did not go out any more. February 25, 1924 Cloudy, Mabel washed I went up to Hassies in afternoon awhile. February 26, 1924 Cloudy and cold wind, spent the day at L´s Mrs. CRENSHAW, Miss Anna, R and Martha Hazel there, went to see Mr. Charlie found him better, Mabel to P ? A February 27, 1924 fair, home all day Mabel went to M.S. I kept L____, Marianna hear a while. February 28, 1924 Clear and warmer went up to see Mr. Charlie found him right sick, R. February 29 1924 Clear and warm, Lillian here a while in morning was up to Hassies a littl while Mabel went over in town Ella was here a while went over to L´s a while stopped at Ada´s awhile. March 1, 1924 fair - cloudy, sent for me to come over Martha was going to city, hated so bad to see her go, she was feeling so bad, was feeling better when she got to her mothers went to the play it was fine every one did their part so well Harris come home. March 2, 1924 Fair and cooler home all morning went to Mrs. ROUSES in afternoon up to Ruth untill church time Harris lieft this afternoon going to Carrelsbug in morning Frank ate dinner with us. March 3, 1924 Clear and warm, Susie Mae came over and got Lillian to help wean her, kept her all day, I went over to Mrs. MOTHERSHEAD a while then up to Ada´s to see her about her cloak. Vernon EVERSON stayed all night with the boys. March 4, 1924 Clear and pretty untill towards night then cloudy and windy, Ironed, wrote to Martha went over to L´s for all night. March 5, 1924 Cloudy then sunshine, Lillian washed and finished my work for Lois, heard Bess BURCH was married to a man from White Mills names Perry. March 6, 1924 Clear and warm, Hassie down early told us Mrs. Jane HALL died about half past one this morning, went to Mrs. Moth awile in morning, Mrs. Linnie after dinner got ready to go to League and started raining so did not go, Hester come over a while, Miss Ruby took her ????? for a hike this afternoon. March 7, 1924 Snow, clear, home doing odd jobs all day, Mabel went over to L´s after dinner Martha getting along alright so far, heard of the death of LEla GRABEL March 8, 1924 Changeable, went around to Lillian´s stayed all night. March 9, 1924 Snow and rain, went to church, read the rest of the day, came home did not go to church. L said Elizabeth CARELETON changed her name on class book to HARRIS. March 10, 1924 Snowing, blustery, spent the day in getting ready to go to Cloverport stayed with Mrs. MOTHERSHEAD at night. March 11, 1924 Cloudy, blustery, snow left M. W. at six, Mr. HUFF took us in left L v at eight ten Cloverport about eleven met by the LARDRES sent to our houses. Our hostess was MRs. HARDED was lovely went to the church in afternoon March 12, 1924 Cloudy and misty rain It. was so cold and bad last night we did not go to church, but today we have there all day. March 13, 1924 Snow, windy, all day at the church snowing tonight have decided to go home tomorrow hate to leave but think it best March 14, 1924 cold and cloudy, left Cloverport at nine 15 got to L twelve twenty come on to Fern Creek Ernest brought us home enjoyed the drive so much we had so much to say to one another. sorry to say good by to Mrs. Hilary Hardin she was so sweet and kind. March 15, 1924 Cloudy, at home all day, did not feel very good. went to the P. ? A. supper, enjoyed myself very well went home with Lillian. March 16,1924 Sunshining all day, went to Sunday School and church, Paxton and Ruth ate dinner with us we slept nearly all after noon as we come from church Elizabeth told me Mrs. HARRIS and herself was married in December March 17, 1924 Cloudy, sleet and rain home all day, read and wrote to Mrs. HARDIN March 18, 1924 Cloudy and nothing doing, L and Susie M went to L. March 19, 1924 Cloudy and rainy went up to Mrs. L awhile L. came home but S M stayed in town. March 20, 1924 Rained all day, Lillian called for me to come over and help her get ready to go back that they had taken Martha to the infirma4y, helped her then went to Ruth´s Paxton was goin to City to lodge, news came at twenty min after six and siad there was a seven pound boy, we sure was glad to hear it. March 21, 1924 cold rain and ???? was at home all day, Mabel went to the school house after dinner, Lillian and Frank came home Martha and Jr. are getting along fine. March 24, 1924 cloudy, clear went over in town heard of Gary GOWNS wife´s sudden death March 25, 1924 Sunshining cloudy showers at home, heard MR. Fred NICHOLSON died about elene o´clock went to the League party had a fine time. March 26, 1924 Cloudy clear had our all day meeting, cut and peiced quilt, all moring had a delightful day. March 27, 1924 Bright Sunshing Mabel and Bob went to New Castle to look at a place don´t think they were much take with it, Lillian, Hazel, and Susie Mae were over after dinner while. March 28, 1924 Cloudy, hard rain, wind storm Fri night. went to Klan speaking this afternoon. Dr. LOCKES spoke, fine speaker hear of the death of the little boy of Bob CRENSHAW fell of the wagon and was run over by it. March 29, 1924 Hard wind, blowed the roof of the house about half of it. I feel a little blue think I´ll sell out. March 30, 1924 Cloudy, home all day, over to L´s late, went to the church had a lovely program heard that ???? COMBS house burned down today, Martha did not get to come home today. we were all so disappointed Frank especially. March 31, 1924 Cloudy, sunshine, went to Dr. SETTLES and got cough drops. stopped at R. awhile went around to L Susie Mae started to teaching this moring. Mr. HAAG put the roof on. Mr. WILLIS moved to the city, did not go to Edna´s birthday she was 21. April 1, 1924 Snowed about all day, did not go off the place Martha did not get to come home. April 2, 1924 Sunny and much warmer, M. S. had all day meeting at Mrs. MOTHERSHEAD and finished our two quilts, Martha came home and it sure is a fine sweet baby.. now I am just as anxious to Ruths and Paxton April 3, 1924 Fair, warmer, Mabel and me went around to see the baby. Ruth wasen´t feeling well so I went around and fried Paxton oysters for d???? then went to the League, come home found L. D. right sick, Jessie COLLINGS came today April 4, 1924 Cloudy warm home all day, Lillian D sick April 5, 1924 Clear and warm Lillian D better I had a spell this morning 4 o´clock, and thought I was going to die. I suprise it was asthma went up to Mrs. Linnies, found her sick in bed. went to Lillians to stay all night Tom feeling bad. April 6, 1924 Sunshine and windy, got up feeling ???? did not go any where all day,, came home late went to bed early April 7, 1924 Windy, clear feel better thins morning, Hassie down awhile, Mabel got her a might pretty hat. Mabel put out her first chickens this morning April 8, 1924 Fair, home all day and sewed. felt ???? again was over in town to get some thread of course had to go to ???? heard about Jack and Charlie having there fight was, so sorry. April 9, 1924 Rained last night fair and cooler. Hassie down a while this morning. Mabel went over in town and to L Martha and Frank around home cleanning up goi to stay there tonight. April 10, 1924 Fair and cool. sewed all morning, went to L and spent the night and went up to Mrs. MOTHERSHEAD in the afternoon of course had to go see Frank Jr. don´t believe the little darling is doing as well as he should went to League. April 11, 1924 clear and warmer, went around to see Martha give the boy his bath, bless his little heart, Ruth and myself went out to the cemetary it is looking so much better come home late, went to bed early hear of Lon STIVERS death today. April 12, 1924 Fiar warmer, went to see MRs. Sallie FOX she is better, Harris came home late when he got here, but we were all glad to see him. April 13, 1924 Fair warm went to S. S. and Church of course I went to see Jr. Harris had to leave early but we more glad he got to come home. April 14, 1924 Rain fair cut Mabel´s dress out and sewed on it went up to Hassies a while, Mabel went over in town and to see F. Jr. April 15, 1924 Fair and warm finished Mabels dress took a nap went over to see F Jr. he is the sweetest little thing. April 16, 1924 Fair warm went to the bank and to Ada´s to see F. Jr ate dinner at L´s went to M. S. heard about MRs. CRENSHAW having Cancer, hom and to bed. April 17, 1924 Rained and cooler went up to Mrs. Linnies and Hassies a little while in afternoon Beatrice and Sallie came by for us to go to the League. April 18, 1924 Clear cold went up to MRs. LInnies and traded hats. heard about Lora PORTER falling and hurting herself when a mad dog was after her. Paul JONES right sick. April 19, 1924 Clear cool windy home all moring up to the home in afternoon, Harris come home late when he got here April 20, 1924 Clear and cool rained some him betwwen midnight and day. went to church had a beautiful Easter program, went up to Mrs. MOTHERSHEAD´s a while, Virgie, Mrs. Bell and Miss Lida was there, Jane and Ruby at Mrs. TYLERS. Harris went home early. April 21, 1924 clear, hard wind, rain at night, went up to Hassies, in the morning, Paul JONES is very bad. Swearigen Harris got his foot crushed while working at Smithville, this afternoon, Wade stayed all night with Charles Franklin. April 22, 1924 Clear and cool , Mabel went out to see Paul. heard they were all sick around at L´s went around to stay all night found L and T feeling better, MRs. LEEe was out to M this afternoon. April 23, 1924 Big Frost this morning stayed all night at L´s helped her wash, went around home and to see Miss Lulie she is doing fine. April 24, 1924 Clear and warm, home all day untill late went over to Martha´s to see how F. Jr. was getting along. doing fine M. had company form Belmont all day went to the League. April 25, 1924 Cloudy and thunder showers a. m. clear p.m. nothing doing, home all day talked with Miss Ida ELLABY this moring Beatrice has the mumps. April 26, 1924 Cooler, went over in town late, did not stay all night. April 27, 1924 Warmer rained early this morning. went to S. S. and church, Minnie Rueban and Susan came out today. started raining about five o´clock P. M. WAde has been sick all day am afraid he has the mumps. rained hard all night. April 28, 1924 Warm a. m. real cool in evening, home all day nothing doing, Wade is still feeling bad do not yet know if he has mumps. April 29, 1924 Warm, started raining 6 pm rained all night, home all day Daisy BARNS here all afternoon, Wade is better, hasn´t got mumps. April 30, 1924 Rained all day, went to Martha´s helped her clean up F. Jr. is looking better,after dinner went to M. S. 8 present harldly looked for that many, it was so bad. May 1, 1924 Bright, warmer, cloudy cooler, home all morning, Lillian came over after dinner we went to see Mr. Charlie, he seemed mighty sick to me. went home with L and went to the League, Maurice went home with Vernon going to S-ville in morning to take examination. May 2, 1924 Bright a little cool, home all day only up to see how Mr. Charlie was he is very bad now has pneumonia. Tom and Li have gone up to stay all night. Ruth and Paxton over awhile. May 3, 1924 warm, cool wind cloudy home all day only up to see how Mr. Charlie was he is no better. May 4, 1924 clear and warmer cool first heard of Jim B. HARRIS death, found dead on street car. MR. Charlie no better. Tom feeling bad sent for Dr. George HOUGH. very bad with ??????, Mrs. LEE and Easter and Charles Ray out today Ruth went home with Katherine and Alee to stay till all is over wish it was over now. May 5, 1924 Hot, went to see how Mr. Charlie was after dinner Dr. thought he was a little better, I could not see very little change. Tom is real sick, Dr. has about decided it is the flue. Pearl and Ada stopped here a while this morning George HOUGH is no better Ada said, they awere going to take her mother back where they had her last year. May 6, 1924 Warm, Staid with Mrs. Linnie last nite. I saw very little change in Mr. Charlie, Lillian says Tom is very little better if any, Hester is sick, hope it is not the flue, crowd went to Jeffersotown to the KKK meeting, open air meeting. May 7, 1924 Warm, rained late in eving, staid at Lillians last nite, went to see JR. this morning George HOUGH bad. May 8, 1924 Cool rained all nite, still at LIllians, George died last nite. Mabel and I spent the day at Marries had such a plesent day. come home and went up to see MR. Charlie, he is still no better. May 9, 1924 Cool, hailed a little about 3 o’clock. went to the funeral of George HOUGH. a loarge crowd ther, Jr. is getting so sweet. Paxton is still at Shepherdsville. Minnie Mc?????? came out to stay while. saw where Aleen STEVENS sued for divorce. May 10, 1924 Rained all nite, and all day went around at Lillians ans stayed all night.Tom feeling a little better, Susie Mae stayed at Hazels. May 11, 1924 Rained all night, and all day to day. went to church, home this evening heard Bill GEER (?) wife was buried to day. May 12, 1924 Clear a little cool, Mabel washed, went around to see Tom, he was sitting up but still very weak. MR. Charlie has not sat up any. Sallie P. and Audry Merel, and Bessie Marie have the mumps. Paxton come home this evening. May 13, 1924 Fair, warm, rained from ???? hailed about three, cooler, Lillian Dean and I went to see Frank Jr. this morning.
