CONFEDERATE KENTUCKY TROOPS

6th Regiment, Kentucky Mounted Infantry 

6th Infantry Regiment was organized at Cave City, Kentucky, in November, 1861, and included in Cofer's 1st Kentucky Infantry Battalion. Its members were raised in the counties of Nelson, Spencer, Hardin, Franklin, Barren, Green, Allen, Anderson, Bullitt, and Simpson. It became part of the Orphan Brigade or Louisville Legion. This regiment lost 108 killed and wounded at Shiloh, sustained 18 casualties at Baton Rouge, then was active at Vicksburg. During the war it was assigned to General Hanson's, Helm's, and J.H. Lewis' Brigade. It fought with distinction at Murfreesboro and Chickamauga, then saw action in the Atlanta Campaign. In the fall of 1864 the unit was mounted, and aided in the defense of Savannah and the campaign of the Carolinas. It lost seventeen percent of the 269 engaged at Murfreesboro and 220 saw action at Chickamauga. The unit totalled 263 men and 221 arms in December, 1863. The 6th surrendered with the Army of Tennessee on April 26, 1865. The field officers were Colonels Martin H. Cofer and Joseph H. Lewis, Lieutenant Colonel William L. Clarke, and Majors Thomas H. Hays and George W. Maxson.

Obituary of Gabriel Pearl

Mr. Gabe Pearl of Derrahs who died somewhat suddenly this (Friday) morning at 86 years of age, had been in poor health for sometime. He received the last sacraments, which are Penance, Extreme Unction and Holy Viaricum from the priest last fall. At the same time he received the last blessing which is always given by the Catholic church to her members when in immediate danger of death, as then he was very sick and might die any day. He was well blessed with this world's goods and leaves a family to mourn his loss. The funeral will be held at St. Patrick church Sunday morning, Rev. Donovan officiating.

MISS BESSIE PEARL
(Canton Press-News)

Funeral services for Miss Bessie Pearl were conducted at St. Patrick Catholic church Tuesday morning February 18, at 9 o'clock by the Rev. Father O'Duignan. Interment was in the cemetery there. Casket bearers were Marion Fishback, Gabe Logsdon, Jep McDaniel, Dave Baber, Willie McDaniel and Roy Logsdon.

She was born near Bardstown in Hardin County, Kentucky, on April 11, 1867, and was the daughter of Gabriel and Cynthia Jane Pearl. She came with her parents and the rest of the family to Missouri when she was eight years old and moved on what was then known as the Patterson place east of Monticello. In 1890 they moved to the Turner place where she spent the remainder of her life until last fall when she came to live with her niece. Mrs. Jake Pearl, where she resided until her death, Feb. 11, 1941, at the age of seventy-three years and ten months.

She leaves to mourn her passing one sister, Lucy Jane Logsdon, a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. These who preceded her in death were her father and mother, three sisters Mrs. Rosa Frances Grable, Mrs. Mary Sarriett Jenkin and Suphronia who died in infancy. The three brothers were Jasper, who resided with her until his death in June, 1938, James Leonard who passed away in 1909, and Richard who died in infancy.

She was a devoted sister and kind neighbor and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Mrs. Cassius Bates buried Providence

Mrs. Mary Margaretta Bates died Saturday, Feb. 27, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jim McClain, who had cared for her during her declining years.
Mrs. Bates was born in Nelson County, Kentucky, November 6, 1856, a daughter of Priscilla and Matthew Pearl. She came to Lewis County with her parents at the age of 20 years.
She was united in marriage to Cassius Bates on February 3, 1898. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Jim McClain. The daughter, with her husband, and three children, Bates, Henry and Joy Rose, survive. Also surviving Mrs. Bates are a brother and a sister, Jacob Pearl of Canton, and Mrs. Kate Howard of Williamstown, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Bates was a member of a family of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death except the brother and sister named. She was converted and united with the Providence Baptist church, where she held membership until the time of her death.
Although blind for three years and bedfast for a year, she was cheerful and always glad to visit with her relatives and friends when they came to visit her.
Funeral services were conducted at Providence Baptist church, Williamstown, Monday, March 1, at 11:00 a.m., by the pastor Rev. Walter C. Burk. Singers were Maxine Lasswell, Georgia Mae English, John Smith and Hurley Carlisle. They were accompanied at the piano by Mattie Ford.
Pallbearers were Joe Lillard, J. J. Spurgeon, Jep McDaniel, Earle Bevans, Russell McClain and Elza Hanley.

Mrs. S. P. Howard Dies In Rochester, Minn.

Catherine Pearl Howard, the daughter of Matthew and Priscilla Pearl was born in Lewis County, (Editor's Note: Catherine Pearl Howard was born in Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky. Information contained in her obituary was incorrect) Feb. 6, 1863. She died Aug. 19, 1946, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry N. Tompkins, in Rochester, Minn., after several months illness. Her age was 83 years, 6 months and 13 days. She was the last of five children.
On October 21, 1896, she was united in marriage to Samuel P. Howard. To this union four children were born, two sons and two daughters. One daughter, Ella Mae, died in infancy and the husband died 12 years ago.
Mrs. Howard made a profession of faith in Christ 36 years ago, and was baptized into the fellowship of the Providence Baptist Church during the pastorate of Rev. F. M. Baker. She was loyal in her devotion to the church and continued in the fellowship until the end.
Mrs. Howard had been a resident of Williamstown and vicinity for many years, spending the winter months, however, of late years with her daughter in Rochester, Minn.
The decedent leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Mrs. Harry N. Tompkins, of Rochester, Minn.; two sons, Victor of Dyer, Ind., and Dewey, of Chicago, Ill.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. Besides these many more distant relatives and friends will cherish her memory.
Funeral services were conducted from Providence church Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m., by Rev. F. M. Baker, pastor of the First Baptist Church, of LaGrange. Those who furnished the music were Mrs. Georgie Mae Todd, Miss Maxine Lasswell, John Smith and Paul Watson, with Mrs. Mattie Ford at the piano. Pall bearers were Roy Bishoff, Gilvie Rector, Lysle Cecil, Albert Dorsey, Charles Samples and Roy Ridgely.
Interment was in Providence cemetery.

Samuel Price Howard, son of James and Elizabeth Howard was born near St. Patrick June 4, 1863, and passed away at his home in Williamstown October 13, 1934, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 9 days.
He was married to Catharine Pearl October 21, 1896, and to this union were born four children, Mrs. Harry Tompkins of Rochester, Minn., Dewey of Chicago, and Victor of Williamstown, and one daughter who died in infancy. Of his brothers and sisters only one brother, John Howard, of Canton, and one half-brother, Joe Briggs, of Saratoga, Calif., survive him. There are six grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his death. Mr. Howard became a member of Providence church in early manhood and has always been a faithful and consistent christian, bearing with courage and patience two years of the most intense pain it is given the human body to suffer. He was a kind and devoted husband and father and a man whom to know was to love and respect. The large number of friends from various communities in which he had lived attending the funeral bore testimony to the place he held in the hearts of his neighbors and friends.
The funeral sermon was preached at Providence Monday afternoon by Rev. T. Elmer Jones of Canton and burial was in the Providence cemetery. Pall bearers were Jas. McClain, Alvin Mitts, Roy Bishoff, Charles Samples, Noel Cecil, P. N. McClain, Mr. and Mrs. Farrand Jenkins, Mrs. Rhoda Watson and John Smith sweetly sang "Going Down the Valley," "Shall We Meet Beyond the Rover," and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."

GEORGE PEARL

George Pearl, son of Matthew and Priscilla Pearl, was born in Nelson County, Kentucky, Sept. 17, 1870, and passed away near Williamstown, Missouri, Jan. 16, 1934, aged 63 years, 3 months and 29 days. He came with his parents to Lewis County at the age of five years and lived the rest of his life in Lewis County with the exception of a few years he resided on a farm near Kahoka. On November 25, 1902, he was united in marriage to Mattie White. To this union eight children were born: four daughters, Mrs. Dollie Spurgeon, Flint, Michigan; Mrs. Edna Morrow and Mrs. Lucretia Hanley of Monticello; and Lucile at home; four sons, Robert Pearl of Gregory Landing; and Richard, Roland and Ralph Pearl at home.
George Pearl was a devoted husband and father and a good neighbor, always ready to help anyone in anyway that he could. By his happy and cheerful disposition he won a host of friends who will miss his friendship and hospitality.
He leaves to mourn their loss, his devoted wife and eight children, and two grandsons, Lecil Edward Morrow and Elza Harold Hanley, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Bates and Mrs. Kate Howard of Williamstown, and Mrs. Sarah Pearl, and one brother, Jacob Pearl of near Derrahs several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Thursday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. C. R. Brimer of Bowling Green with burial in the Kahoka cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Ellison of St. Patrick, Bart Smith, Chas Spurgeon, Jim Schrader, Henry Tucker and Clarence Nichols of this vicinity.

Mattie Pearl Brammer, 72, died at the home of her son, Robert Pearl of Canton, Thursday, March 18, after an extended illness.
She was born in Clark County, Mo., Jan. 24, 1882, the daughter of William and Dollie Legon White. She was united in marriage to Geo. Pearl on November 25, 1902. Mr. Pearl died January 16, 1934.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Raymond Spurgeon, Flushing, Mich., Mrs. Edna Morrow, Rock Island, Ill., Mrs. Elza Hanley of Keokuk, Mrs. Lloyd Shannon of Williamstown, four sons, Robert and Roland of Canton, Richard and Ralph of Rock Island, Ill., fifteen grand children, two great-grand-children, three sisters, Mrs. Clyde Carroll, New London, Mo., Mrs. Henry Kirchner, Kahoka, and Mrs. Walter Raber, Alexandria, several nieces and nephews. CANTON, Mo.  -- Ralph J. Pearl, 64, a resident of Milan, Ill., for the past 35 years, formerly of Canton, died Wednesday morning (Dec. 23, 1981) in Moline Public Hospital in Moline, Ill.         
He was born Dec. 7, 1917, at Kahoka a son of George and Mattie White Pearl. On Sept. 24, 1953, he married Mary Powers in Viola. Mr.  Pearl was a brick mason, retired from the C. H. Langman and Sons Construction Co, in Milan. He served in the Army during World War II and had earned the Bronze Star.
Surviving are his wife; and two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Shannon of  Williamstown, and Mrs. Edna Morrow of Rock Island, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Davis Funeral Chapel in Canton by the Rev. Dann Masden Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery at Canton.

     Ralph J. Pearl, 64, of 3009 56th Ave. W., Milan, died at 1:15 a.m. today at Moline Public Hospital.
         Funeral services will be held Sunday night at the Davis Funeral Home in
Canton, Mo. Burial will be in the Forest Grove Cemetery, Canton. Friends may call at the Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, from noon to 4 p.m. tomorrow.
         Mr. Pearl was born Dec. 7,1917, in Kahoka, Mo., the son of George and Mattie White Pearl. He received his education in Missouri, and came to Rock Island and then, to Milan, where he has lived for the past 35 years.
         He married Mary Powers Sept. 24, 1953, in Viola.
        Mr. Pearl had worked for C. H. Langman & Sons Construction Co. for 26 years
as a brick mason.
         He served in the Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star.
         Mr. Pearl was a member of the Brick Layers Local No. 7.
         Surviving are his wile; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Shannon of Williamstown, Mo., and Mrs. Edna Morrow of Rock Island.
         He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Obituary of Jacob Pearl

Jacob Pearl, the youngest son of Matthew and Priscilla Hoskins Pearl, was born near Monticello, Mo., January 9, 1875. After an illness of several months, he passed away January 22, at the age of 69 years and 13 days.
On July 19, 1904, he married Mary Elizabeth Grable, the Rev. S. R. Dillman officiating at the ceremony in Monticello. To this union was born one son, Albert, who, with his mother, is left to mourn the passing of a loving father and husband. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Sam Howard of Rochester, Minn., a number of nieces and nephews and many other relatives.
Jakie, as he was known to his brothers and friends, was always ready to help anyone in need.
Funeral services were held in the Pearl home Wednesday morning, January 24, at 11 o'clock, with the Rev. M. D. Mulvania officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Lyda Brown, Mrs. Virginia Fishback, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Risk and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gruber.
Pall bearers were Will McDaniel, Tom Risk, Jep McDaniel, Marion Fishback, Will Logsdon and Frank Wiss.

Services Held June 6 for Mrs. Bessie Pearl

Funeral services were held Mrs. Bessie Pearl on June 6th at the Baptist church in Canton. Services were conducted by the Rev. Mulvania, pastor of the church.
Music was furnished by Antioch Sunday school. Casket bearers were Billie King, George Uhlmeyer, Buzz Spurgeon, George Spurgeon, Hilburn Fishback and Earl Fishback.
She was laid to rest in Forest Grove cemetery, beside her husband, who passed away 10 years ago. Mary Elizabeth Grable Pearl was born near Bardstown, Ky., December, 1874 and passed away and passed away June 4, 1955 at the Prairie View Rest Home near Lewistown, Mo.
She came from Kentucky to Lewis County in 1877 with near relatives and spent her entire life in the county. She has been in failing health for some time.
Mrs. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and an infant brother, Albert Grable.
She was united in marriage to Jacob Pearl in 1904 and to this union was born one son, Albert. He survives together with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mrs. Bessie Pearl had a narrow escape Saturday afternoon when a skillet of meat on her electric stove got too hot and she undertook to put the skillet outdoors. The wind blew the burning grease on her, burning one sleeve out of her, burning one sleeve out of her dress and severely burning her chest, arm and hand before the fire was extinguished.

Albert Pearl, 78, of Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 1984, in the home.
Albert Pearl was born May 6, 1905, in Lewis County, the son of Jacob and Mary Grabel Pearl. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
He is survived by cousins.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the Davis Funeral Chapel in Canton, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Kaimann. Burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery.

Carl A. Hibbs Sr. said her name was Norrah and Marie Hibbs, wife of Robert Irwin Hibbs, said her name was Norrah. Both said that was all they ever heard her called.

Lorna Hibbs said her opinion is that her name was Naurah Anne Gray.

Edna McClain

Mrs. Edna Lewis McClain, 80, of Canton, formerly of Williamstown, died Sunday, March 18, in Quinsippi Nursing home in Quincy, where she had been a patient since February.
Mrs. McClain was born Dec. 26, 1898, near Williamstown, a daughter of Cashus and Mary Bates. She married James McClain Dec. 1, 1920, in LaBelle. He died April 11, 1976. She was a member of the Providence Baptist church near Williamstown.
Surviving are a son, Henry McClain of St. Louis; a daughter, Mrs. Edmond Otto of Canton; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in Providence Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. Gerald Collier and the Rev. Ernest Deatrick. Music was furnished by Mrs. Mike Hudnut, accompanied by Mrs. Ernest Deatrick.
Pall bearers were Raymond Lillard, Hilburn Fishback, Harlan Edwards, Lloyd Shannon, Norman Tucker and Kirby Clark. Burial was in Providence cemetery.

JAMES McCLAIN

Funeral services for James C. McClain, 77, a retired farmer of Williamstown, who died Sunday, April 11, in his home, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Providence Baptist Church near Williamstown. The Rev. Robert Scott officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. W. E. Dorris and LaGina Bevans furnished the music. Pall bearers were Lloyd Shannon, Bob Shannon, Don Waterman, Harlen Edwards, Robert Lillard and Robert Legg.
Mr. McClain was born in Deer Ridge, June 29, 1898, a son of Lewis and Evelyn Sewall McClain. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He married Edna Bates Dec. 1, 1920, in LaBelle.
Surviving are the widow, two sons, Bates of Chicago, and Henry of St. Louis; a daughter, Mrs. Edmond (Joy) Otto of Canton; brothers, Mervue of Monroe City and Clyde of Bentonville, Okla., three sisters, Mrs. Lona Ferguson of Canton, Mrs. Virginia Rae Collier of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Helen Levengood of Danville, Ill., six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond H. Spurgeon to Mark 50th in Michigan

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond H. Spurgeon of Flushing, Mich., will celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary at an open house and buffet at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Neal Craig, 6088 Meadowwood Drive, Grand Blanc, Mich., from 1 to 5 in the afternoon Sunday, Nov. 3.

Dollie Pearl, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Pearl, and Raymond Spurgeon, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Spurgeon of Williamstown, were married Nov. 3, 1924, at Ewing.

The Spurgeon's have lived in Michigan the last 47 years. Mrs. Spurgeon was employed by Genesee County for 12 years, retiring in 1968. Mr. Spurgeon retired in 1966 after 39 years of service with Chevrolet Flint Manufacturing.

Edna Morrow, 79, of Rock Island, formerly of  Lewis County, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 1984, in her home in Rock Island.
Edna Lee Morrow was born, Feb. 17, 1905, in Kahoka, a daughter of George and Mattie White Pearl. She married Lecil Morrow in 1928. He died in 1939.
Mrs. Morrow worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for years retiring in 1971. She was a member of the Shrine of St. Patrick.
Survivors include a son, Lecil (Lee) Morrow of Rock Island, with who she made her home; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Lloyd Shannon of Williamstown and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Friday in the Shrine of St. Patrick by the Rev. Bob   Duesdeker. Pall bearers were Lloyd Shannon, Kenny Pearl, George Pearl, Leo Pearl, Bill Rash and Harold Hanley. Burial was in St. Patrick Cemetery.
Rosary was held Thursday evening Funeral at the Davis Funeral Chapel, Canton,
conducted by Father Patrick Hoffman.

Funeral Services for Robert Walter Pearl were held Tuesday morning, June 25, in the Shrine of St. Patrick with the Rev. Fred Yehle in charge. Music was furnished by the men's choir, with Pam Uhlmeyer at the organ. Rosary was read Monday night at Barkley-Davis Funeral Home at Canton.

Pall bearers were Jerome Ellison, Arnold Kirchner, J. C. Wheeler, Ben Minnerly, Donal Reid and John Nick Kirchner. Burial was in the church cemetery at St. Patrick.

Mr. Pearl died Sunday, June 23, at his home near Canton.
Robert Walter Pearl, the son of George and Mattie White Pearl, was born in Clark County on October 28, 1906. He was married to Verna M. Bader on August 24, 1932 at Canton. Mr. Pearl, a retired farmer, was a member of the Catholic Church at St. Patrick.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth Pearl and Robert L. Pearl, both of Canton; two daughters, Mrs. J. Michael McFadden of Canton, and Mrs. Paul Booker of Rock Island, Ill.; twelve grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Raymond Spurgeon of Flint, Michigan, Mrs. Lloyd Shannon of Williamstown, Mrs. Elza Hanley of Keokuk, and Mrs. Edna Morrow of Rock Island, Ill.; a brother, Ralph Pearl of Milan, Ill.; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and an infant grandson.

Verna M. Pearl was born Nov. 1, 1913, in Lewis County, the daughter of James and Emma Zerull Bader. She married Robert Pearl on Aug. 25, 1932, in St. Patrick. He died June 23, 1974. Mrs. Pearl was a member of the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Patrick and the Daughters of Isabelle.

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Pearl and Leo Pearl, both of Canton; two daughters, Mrs. Michael McFadden of Canton and Mrs. Paul Booker of Rock Island; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Brennan of Williamstown and Mrs. Russell McDermott of Canton; 13 grandchildren; and other relatives. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, and a grandson.

Funeral services were held Monday in the Shrine of St. Patrick Church, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Kaimann and the Rev. James Wheeler. Music was furnished by the St. Patrick Mens Choir and Mrs. Kenneth Krueger at the organ.

Pall bearers were Roy Booker, Chris Pearl, Jim Lefringhouse, Heath McFadden, Greg Pearl and Ed Lefringhouse. Burial was in St. Patrick Cemetery.

A prayer service was held Sunday evening at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton.

Servers were Brian Pearl, Kenneth Krueger Jr., and Shawn Richmond.

CANTON, Mo. -- Mrs. Nancy McFadden, 42, of rural Canton died at 10:38 a.m. Saturday (June 6, 1987) in University Hospital in St. Louis.

Mrs. McFadden was born March 16, 1945, in Canton, a daughter of Robert W. and Verna M. Bader Pearl. She married Mike McFadden Nov. 26, 1964, in St. Patrick. He survives.

Mrs. McFadden was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Canton.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Heath of Fort Hood, Texas; two brothers, Robert Leo and Kenneth Pearl, both of Canton; a sister, Mrs. Paul (Shirley) Booker of Rock Island, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Canton by the Rev. Patrick Hoffman. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, with prayer service at 7 p.m. in Davis Funeral Chapel in Canton. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Lucretia Hanley

Lucretia M. Hanley, 67, of Hilton road died noon Tuesday at her home. She had been ill for six months.
Mrs. Hanley was born on Oct. 21, 1908 in Kahoka, Mo., the daughter of George and Mattie White Pearl. She had been a Keokuk resident for 35 years and was a cook at the Chuck Wagon for 20 years. She retired five years ago.
She married Elza R. Hanley on Nov. 25, 1931 in La Grange, Mo.
Mrs. Hanley is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Gene (Julia) Pezley of Nauvoo, Ill.; two sons, Harold of Keokuk and Hurley of Philadelphia, Pa.; a brother, Ralph Pearl of Rock Island, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Morrow of Rock Island, Mrs. Lucille Shannon of Williamstown, Mo. and Mrs. Dollie Spurgeon of Flint, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two aunts.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at De Jong's Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Ourth officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Funeral  services for Richard H. Pearl of Milan, Ill.,  who died Saturday, Jan. 16, were held Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic church in Milan.
The Rev. Raymond Lukoskie, assistant pastor, officiated and burial was in the Calvary cemetery in Rock Island.
Mr. Pearl was born June 10, 1911, in Kahoka a son of George and Matilda White Pearl. He married  Irene Zerull Dec. 25, 1935, in St. Patrick. He was employed as a machine operator at Frank Foundry Corp. in Moline for 16 years and before that he worked at the Farmall Works. He was a member of St. Ambrose church and Moline Eagles Aerie No. 1112. 
Surviving are the widow; a daughter Mrs. Urban Lohman of Dallas Tex.; three
grandsons; two brothers, Robert Pearl of Canton, and Ralph Pearl of Milan; and

Funeral services for Brownie Pearl were held Wednesday morning, Dec. 9, in the chapel of the Barkley Funeral home in Canton, with Father Buchanan in charge. Music was furnished by Allen Schork, with Mrs. Earl Barkley at the organ.

Mr. Pearl was found Sunday in his trailer home north of Williamstown. He had been dead since Tuesday of self-inflicted gun shot wounds.
Roland (Brownie) Pearl, the son of George and Mattie White Pearl, was born October 26, 1914, in Clark County. He was married to Pauline Kutcher on February 18, 1935, in Canton.
Mr. Pearl had been employed at the Gardner-Denver plant in La Grange for many years. For the past two years he had been in the logging business.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Rovene Lockhart of Leesburg, Mo.; two sons, George Pearl of Canton and James A. The couple were married in Monticello on Dec. 14, 1937, by Justice of the Peace Otto P. Shanks. They have farmed near Williamstown most of their married life and are the parents of three children: Janet Doran of Monticello, Jane Morris and John Shannon of Williamstown.
Tude (Lloyd) is the son of the late John and Hattie Ridgely Shannon. Tootsie (Luceal) is the daughter of the late George and Mattie White Pearl.
