PITT spent Thursday afternoon with Mrs. PITT sister, Mrs. Forrest WHITWORTH. Mr. and Mrs. T.N. ADAMS visited Mrs. Geneva WOOLFOLK one afternoon this week. Gary HODGE, the little three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Selvie HODGE was taken to St. Anthony Hospital very ill the past week, but is home now doing very nicely at present. Mrs. Evan DILLANDER was injured by a mule this week, he pawed her in the shoulders and arm. She was taken to the hospital for a few days is home at present, don't know her condition. Mr. Joe CARICO remains in the hospital seriously ill. Mr. and Mrs. Ed CRIGLER and boys and Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie PHILPOT called to see the Hugo MARAMAN family Sunday. Mrs. Rena CRENSHAW and Mrs. Edna LANE visited Mrs. Woodie TINNELL and Mrs. Ernest MANN last Thursday. Mrs. MANN and Mrs. TINNELL have been on the sick list. A large crowd attended the supper at Cedar Grove School Saturday night. A nice sum of around $295.00 was realized for the benefit of the school. Mrs. Mary GREENWELL was scalded this week very badly, her shoulder and arm and around her waist. She is at the Baptist Hospital. We do hope it isn't to bad. Mr. and Mrs. Enoch WEBB and Mr. and Mrs. JEFFERY spent Sunday with Mrs. WEBB and Mrs. JEFFERY brother, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas BOLTON of near Louisville. Mr. Ed GOFORTH has accepted a position in Chattanooga, Tenn., and will be moving there soon. Sorry to lose this fine young couple. Wish them much success in their new business there. Mrs. Edna LANE and Mr. and Mrs. Jack GANT spent last Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence ROBY of near Fairdale. The B.N.C. met with Mrs. HORNBACK Tuesday evening, September22. Delicious "cookout" supper around their beautiful grill, followed by special prayer for State Missions. Have you given your part? Mrs. HORNBACK was in South Dakota recently and met Mrs. RICKENBACK nee Vivian JENKINS--she sent us a message by Mrs. HORNBACK. How nice to be pleasantly surprised and we were last Saturday when Mr. and Mrs. Ernest BROOKS came bringing a former pastor, Rev. SANDRIDGE of Richmond, VA., to see me. I had not seen him for many years but remembered him gratefully as the pastor who used to come after me on prayer meeting evenings. Mr. and Mrs. Robert GATLIN spent Wednesday evening with us. Mrs. Elizabeth FERRING, with her friend, Mrs. STRUKLES left last Thursday for a two weeks stay in Florida. They may both go back later for the winter. The male quartet of Little Flock came Sunday afternoon to sing for me and how I did enjoy them. They sang my favorite hymns, such as "The Glory Song" "In The Garden, Sweet Peace" "Nearer My god to Thee" and others. They were Dudley SHELBURNE, Walter CRUMBACKER, Ernest BROOKS, Chas. BROOKS and Mr. CASE. Robert HOLSCLAW has bought a house near Fairdale and has moved into it. Dr. and Mrs. J.C. RAY attended a breakfast at Brown Hotel Wednesday morning for the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat section of the Ky. State Medical Convention. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur ICE were guests of Mr. Roger BARGER and Miss Lois Sunday. Master Henry REVEL was rushed to hospital for emergency appendectomy Thursday night. Mr. and Mrs. Royce Dean ARMSTRONG and family and Miss Betty ARMSTRONG spent Sunday afternoon with Harold Ray ARMSTRONG and family at Campbellsville. Brenda TRAVIS spent Sunday afternoon with Linda MEREDITH. Mr. and Mrs. Royce Deaon ARMSTRONG were Thursday night supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Allard ARMSTRONG. Mrs. Cecil BRIDWELL and Mrs. Ethel STALLINGS attended the "Old Fashion Show" at Elizabethtown Sat. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil BRIDWELL visited Mr. and Mrs. Adrian BURNS Sunday afternoon. (deferred) Mr. and Mrs. Fred FLOYD, Mr. and Mrs. Fred WHITE and son, of Simpsonville visited Rev. and Mrs. BENNINGFIELD Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Dale GENTRY and family, Mr. and Mrs. Shirley ARMSTRONG spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace ARMSTRONG. Shirley PROCTOR has been sent to Fort Sill ARK. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil BRIDWELL were Sunday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. George IRELAND of Louisville. The W.M.U. of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church met last Tuesday for the observance of the Week of Prayer for State Misions with thirteen members and two visitors present. In the afternoon the pastor taught the book, Friday night with Mrs. Shirley, "The Holy Spirit In Missions". Mrs. Carolyn ROBINSON spent Friday night with Mrs. Shirley PROCTOR. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond MOORE were Sunday evening guest of Mr. and Mrs. BENNINGFIELD. We had 194 in Sunday School last Sunday. Let us try and have 200 this Sunday. Mrs. Neil FARRIS visited Mrs. Amieal FITZGERALD Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph FITZGERALD and Mr. and Mrs. Amieal FITZGERALD went to see her brother Sat. night at the Baptist Hospital and found him much better. RYAN and Susan, Mr. and Mrs. Paul SMITH, Tommy and Neva RAY, Mr. and Mrs. Omer COULTER, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Owen, Gail and Donna. Mrs. Lillian PARRISH and Mrs. Hazel McAFEE visited Mrs. Pearl HARRIS recently. Miss Joetta BASS spent Friday night with Miss Carole SMITH. Mrs. Betty CARRITHERS and Mrs. Etta R. COULTER are on the sick list. Master Michael RYAN spent last week-end with Master Jimmie HICKS at Valley Station. BEATRICE M. THORNTON DIES AFTER UNDERGOING OPERATION Mrs. Beatrice Moore THORNTON, age 55, a former Bullitt County Teacher and wife of T. J. THORNTON, a well know citizen of the Bardstown Junction community, died Thrusday, Sept. 24, at St. Joseph's Infirmary at 5:30 PM, after a very serious operation. Mrs. THORNTON is survived by her husband, T.J. THORNTON of Bardstown Junction; three daughters, Mrs. Delmar CRUMP (Rose), Lebanon Junction, Route 1, Mrs. William B. HUCKABY of Fort Knox, and Miss Ruth Ann THORNTON at home; one son, Thomas Ray THORNTON (Buck) Clermont, Ky; also father, Mr. Daniel MOORE, Shepherdsville, Route 3; two sisters, Mrs. Barney McMILLAN, Lebanon Junction, Mrs. Arthur MUDD (Bessie), Route 3, Shepherdsville; five grand-children. Mrs. THORNTON was taken to the Roy L. Maraman Funeral Home, Shepherdsville. Her funeral was conducted at her home church at Bardstown Junction and was attended by a very large crowd. Burial was in Vine Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Clermont, Kentucky. Services by Rev. MOSER spent Sunday with Dr. MOSER's sister in Barbourville, Ky. Mr. Bobby Ray MYERS and daughter, Judy were the guests of Mrs. Margaret RIDGWAY last Saturday. Miss Mary Lou MOSER is a Freshman at Union College there and has been nominated for Home Coming Queen. Miss Wanda NICHOLAS has been in Baptist Hospital for observation. Roger OWENS has returned back to school after having pneumonia. Dr. B. C. MOSER was asked to speak to a fraternity gathering at Union College on the subject "Chiropractic and Athletic Injuries". Dr. MOSER related some of his experiences as team physician for DuPont. He was the team physician for DuPont's baskenball team for two years. Mrs. Frank ROBARDS spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Laura HUNDLEY of Standford. Mrs. Anna AIRGOOD and Mrs. Sue MC KELVEY were also guests. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth G. MASDEN and daughter, Vickie Lynn and son Kenneth GORDON II of Valley Station were recent guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elsie MASDEN. Mrs. Anna May MC ADAMS, Pauline MASON and Ben F. MC ADAMS Jr., returned Saturday from a vacation in Florida. Mrs. Robert L. TANNER is in the Baptist Hospital for observation. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. HARDESTY, of Louisville were Sunday guest of Misses Alice HARDESTY and Holloway MILLER> Mrs. Ethel SHARP, underwent an operation recently and is improving nicely. She is a sister-in-law of Mrs. Della KULMER. Mr. John SHAW suffered a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Henry ADAMS were last Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tom ADAMS and other relatives. Miss Charlene ASHBY was home from college for the weekend. -------------------------------------------------------------- LEBANON JUNCTION NEWS-OCTOBER 9, 1959 -------------------------------------------------------------- Miss Martha (Peggy) TRAVIS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert TRAVIS of Lebanon Junction and Mr. Manuel SIDEBOTTOM, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paylor SIDEBOTTOM, of Boston were united in Holy Matrimony, Saturday, October 3. The wedding took place in the home of Rev. Harvey JENKINS, of Elizabethtown who performed the ceremony. The best man and matron of honor were Mr. and Mrs. J. W. BARTLEY and the other witness was Mrs. Robert TRAVIS. The bride wore a white suit with blue accessories and wore a corsage of pink rose buds. The matron of honor wore a light blue dress with a white carnation corsage. The groom wore a dark suit and the best man wore a light suit. Mr. and Mrs. SIDEBOTTOM will make their home here. Many years of happiness and success are wished for this young couple. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Gordon SWEAT on the arrival of an 8 lb., 13 1/2 oz., boy, Charles Steven, born Sept. 30. Sunday guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. MULLINS was Mrs. Sue MILLER. Mr. Jack JOHNSTON received a broken ankle in injuries received last week. Mrs. Mary MASDEN is visiting relatives in Elizabethtown this week. Monday guests of Mrs. Lester SQUIRES were Mr. and Mrs. HenryKNUCKLES and Mrs. Leon WHITE.
