E. CHAPPELL of this place, one of the last surviving members of the CHAPPELL family, well and highly respected Bullitt County Family for some 200 years, is sponsoring a move, to get. The Fort Knox Camp to fence and restore the Old CHAPPELL Ridge Cemetery. This cemetery was acquired by Fort Knox during the World's War No. 1, and is resting place of some five hundred to six hundred people whose names are prominently connected with the history of Bullitt County. The army people sent their representative here this week to visit this spot with Mr. CHAPPELL and seems to be favorable to the plan of cleaning, fencing and restoring this fine old cemetery to its original beauty. This is perhaps the largest and one of the oldest cemeteries in Bullitt Co. and it, is found such family names as The CHAPPELL, The ARNOLDS, The FOSTERS, The GOLDSMITH, The HIBBS, The McAHRONS, The BLACKS, The JEFFRIES, The CLOSES, The JENNINGS, The (OONGROVES?). The FERGUSONS, The KEYS and many others. It is said that practically no damage has been done to this cemetery since it was taken over, quarter of a century ago. The Pioneer News Friday, June 19,1942
