Wilford LEE was a wealthy civic leader of note. A few years after he settled in western Bullitt Co. in the early 1800's his four brothers Charles, William, John Jr. and Henry LEE bought land and settled in the same section. His sister Mary LEE with her husband Francis MARAMAN settled on a large plantation south of Salt River near Shepherdsville. Accounts of these five lines are included in the published history. Wilford LEE married first Rebecca HILL and secondly Margaret HILL, the daughters of Judge Atkinson HILL, friend and business associate of Judge John ROWAN. There were nine children by the first marriage and three by the second, Charles of the first set of children was the only child of Wilford LEE who remained in Bullitt Co. Mr. Henry HAMILTON Jr. a descendant, resides in the Charles LEE homestead. Col. Philip Lightfoot LEE by the second marriage was a distinguished officer in the Confederate Army and was one of Kentucky's ablest jurists. He eventually settled in Louisville where he was twice elected Commonwealth Attorney. Numerous descendants of the LEE family continue to reside in Bullitt County. Mrs. Evelyn Crady ADAMS and Miss Wenonah MARAMAN, the latter a LEE descendant, prepared the LEE history. The Pioneer News Friday May 20, 1960
