BARNES and wife take the Last Long Journey Together. Mr. William B. BARNES and wife, Mrs. Christine COX BARNES two well known and beloved people formerly of this place, died in Owensboro at the home of their daughter Mrs. J. A. HARRIS. On the night of December 31 as the old year went out, so did the life of this Christian gentleman and a few hours later his wife followed him. Just as the doors of the New Year were opened his companion went in to be with him, as they had walked hand in hand and faced storms of this life, and shared each others pleasures here and even at death were inseparable how grand it was that the unity and sweet companionship of the dear old people were not broken. They had celebrated their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary a short time ago. The bodies were brought here on the evening of Jan. 4th to the home of their daughter Mrs. W. L. McGEE, and the following day the funeral was preached at the methodist church by the baptist minister Rev. B. F. ADKINS. Mr. BARNES had been a faithful member of the Methodist church. Mrs. BARNES had been a life long member worker int he Baptist church. Mr. BARNES lived to the ripe old age of 86 his companion to that of 76 years. They are survived by four daughters, Mrs. J. A. HARRIS, Owensboro, MRs. Will RAGLAND, Oakland, California, Mrs. J. M. CRENSHAW, Key Stone Park, Florida, Mrs. W. L. McGEE this place three sons, Claud, California, Forest, of Owensboro, and Edward BARNES of Louisville, a number of grandchildren. The family has the profound sympathy of the community.
