Mr. BROWNING is the last survivor of that Family who in a little settlement in Bullitt county near Lotus for some Hundred years, and where today there is not a single person left by that name.About fifty years ago at least twelve or fifteen families lived in the small cabins in and around this settlement,and back for practically a century the community has been known as "Browningtown." Funeral Home; The Roy L.MARAMAN Christmas Day was attended by his four sons, one daughter,1 brother,one sister and several other relatives most of whom now live in Louisville. after the brief services here by REV. HOWARD of Louisville, the burial took place at The Old BROWNING family cemetery in Browningtown where hundreds of former relatives lie buried and where perhaps his burial will be the last to be held in this ancient family burying ground. ********************************************************************** Transcribed by: Pat45324@aol.com Date: 22 May 2001 *********************************************************************** Pioneer News Friday March 7,1941 HENRY BROWNING KILLED BY OVERTURED CAR Last Monday afternoon, about 4:30 o'clock, a chrysler driven by Mrs. Mamie E. ELMORE, 36 turned over after running with two wheels in the road and the other two at the bottom of the deep ditch, for about seventy-five yards. In the car with Mrs. ELMORE, were her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Henry BROWNING, William RICHARDS, 30, and Irvin HODGE, 12. After insisting, the BROWNINGS were taken for a short ride. Mrs. ELMORE had told the aged couple that she did not have long to stay. It was the return of this brief trip that the auto overturned, which a few hours later proved fatal to Henry BROWNING, 70 Mrs. BROWNING was also severely bruised. The deceased was buried Wednesday afternoon.
