Brewer, died at 7:40 o'clock Sunday night, May 17, 1936, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lexington after an illness of nine months. A daughter of the late James P. McAfee and Anita Alexander McAfee, she was born in Bullitt county, Kentucky 70 years ago, but at the age of two years moved with her family to Columbia, Missouri, where she lived and was educated in the college there. After her marriage to Mr. Brewer she came to Harrodsburg to reside, where she was prominently identified with church, club, and civic activities, as well as being devoted in her home life. Cultured, and with an unusually excellent mind and attractive personality, Mrs. Brewer was one of the most valued and popular women of this community. She is survived by her husband, Mr. L. D. Brewer, of Harrodsburg, a son, Mr. Lawrence Brewer and grandson, Robert McAfee Brewer of Lexington; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Bates, of Columbia, Mo., and Mrs. R. L. Courtney, of Berkeley, California. Mrs. Brewer was a faithful member of the United Presbyterian church and her funeral was conducted by her pastor, Dr. John W. Carpenter at the grave in the family lot in Spring Hill cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The floral tokens of sympathy were unusually beautiful. Bearers were William Veatch, Bacon R. Moore, B. T. Hume, Tom Chatham, Douglass Curry and L. C. Riker. Those from out-of-town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Thompson Bryant, Robert Jewell, Mrs. Matt Clay, Mr. and Mrs. John Gardner, Mrs. Rodman Keenon, Mrs. Tully Witherspoon, Dr. and Mrs. M. V. P. Yeaman, Dr. and Mrs. Charles McChord, Mr. and Mrs. James Morris, Mrs. Gore Moberley, Mrs. Brooks Jewett, Mrs. Evan Ingals, Miss Hannah Morgan, Mr. and Mrs.. Francis Alexander, all of Lexington; Dr. R. C. McChord, Mr. and Mrs. Al McChord, Mrs. R. Y. McElroy, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Rubel, all of Lebanon. (Fri May 22, 1936)
