He lived at 6218 Dart Drive, Louisville. (Edgar Leon Cunningham) He was a Bullitt County, Kentucky, native and a retired Spencer County farmer. He had also worked for the Kentucky Bureau of Highways for 15 years and was a member of the Church of Christ in Waterford, Kentucky. Survivors include his wife, the former Bessie Cox; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Runner and Mrs. C. P. Proctor, both of Fern Creek, and Mr. J. T. Johnson, of Taylorsville; two sons, Leon and Howard Lee Cunningham, both of Shelbyville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Foreman Funeral Home, 10600 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Valley Cemetery, near Taylorsville, Kentucky. ------------- He also had a sister living, Lena Cunningham Rogers, Taylorsville, Kentucky. ________________________________________________________________________ Spencer Magnet November 1983 Mrs. Bessie Cox Cunningham, 78, of 6218 Dart Drive; Fern Creek, died Wednesday, November 20, 1983 at St. Anthony Hospital. She was a member of Waterford Church of Christ in Spencer County. Survivors include a son, Leon Cunningham of Shelbyville; three daughters, Mrs. Beulah Johnson, Route 4, Taylorsville, Mrs. Ola M. Proctor and Mrs. Margaret Runner; a sister, Mrs. Melissa Sherrard of Mt. Washington; a brother, Richard Cox of Taylorsville; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 1983 at Foreman Funeral Home, 10600 Taylorsville Road, Jeffersontown with burial in Valley Cemetery. ________________________________________________________________________ Spencer Magnet June 1996 Leon Cunningham, 73, of 2297 Finchville Road, Shelbyville, died June 10, 1996 at his home. A native of Spencer county, Cunningham was a farmer, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Finchville Ruritan Club and Waterford Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Cunningham; a daughter, Cheryl (Mrs. Fielding, Jr.) Ballard of Shelbyville; a son, Dennis Leon Cunningham of Finchville; three sister, Margaret Runner of Jefferson county, Ola Proctor of Louisville and Beulah Johnson of Spencer County; and three grandchildren. Services were held June 13 at Shannon Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Brumley officiating; burial was in the Highland Memory Gardens in Mt. Washington. ________________________________________________________________________ Courier Journal January 1977 Howard Lee Cunningham, 52, Rt. 5, Shelbyville, died Wednesday at Jewish Hospital 12:50 pm. He was a native of Spencer County, a farmer, and a member of the Fisherville Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, James Lee and Donald Wayne Cunningham; and his mother, Mrs. Bessie Cunningham; brother, Leon Cunningham of Shelbyville; three sisters; Mrs. Charles (Margaret)Runner, Mrs. Paul (Ola M.) Proctor and Mrs. J. T. (Beulah) Johnson. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Foreman Funeral Home, 10600 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville.
