A week ago today, at the break of day. The roll was called and father was taken away. "Twas a sad day for us all. When mother and father, Answered their call Tis hard to part with love once so dear But God who knows best, Has given them a place to rest                        (a daughter) DIED AT HIS HOME Mr John D. CRENSHAW departed this life, at his home in Leaches near Cedar Grove Church, Feb. 6, 1909 at 5:00 am. On Feb. 10th, his funeral was preached at 11:00 am at Cedar Grove Church, by his pastor Rev. HUNTER, of the Methodist Church, after which his remains were laid to rest in the Old burying ground, near the church. He was followed to his last resting place by a host of friends. Mr. CRENSHAW was born in Bullitt Co. July 2nd 1847. He was a well, able bodied man until about 4 months ago, when he was sticken by an incurable disease, which hastened him to his home above, where we hope he is resting in peace. He was attended by 4 of the best Physicians in Bullitt Co. Mr. CRENSHAW lived his noble and usefull life in Bullitt Co., where he is greatly missed by a host of friends. He was well known, highly respected, and loved by all who knew him. Mr. CRENSHAW was twice married, first, about 40 years ago. He was married to Miss Martha J. DEACON. To this union there were born 9 children. Eight of them are living to mourn his loss. About 25 years ago, they both became obedient and faithful members of the Methodist Church, and they both lived and died obedient and faithful servants of God. His first wife died 9 years ago, last August. He was married 8 years ago last May, to Miss Alice BLIVENS. To this union was born one child. He also leaves two sisters, and one brother to mourn his loss. They are Mrs. John JAMES, Mrs. H. BOLTON, of Leaches, and William CRENSHAW, of Indiana. This brother who is very feeble, was unable to attend the funeral. He has 9 children, Mrs. J.T. HOUCK, Mrs. C.R. RATLIFF, Mrs. Lee MIDDLETON, Mrs. Claude RONEY, Mrs. Henry DEACON, Mssrs. C. E. CRENSHAW, Henry CRENSHAW, Alf CRENSHAW, Russel CRENSHAW. We all extend our heartfelt sympathy to the widow, for there is no earthly friend like Mother and Father.
