Date: 17 June 2000 ***************************************************************************** Former County Judge and Seriff, and one of Bullitt County's most respected citizens, Robert E. McAFEE, 68, died at St. Anthony's Hospital, at 3 a.m., Sunday November 19th. Mr. McAfee had been in poor health for several months. He was taken to the hospital November 1st, suffering from a heart ailment. The remains were taken to the McAfee Funeral Home Mt. Washington. The funeral was held at the Methodist Church of which he was a member, Tuesday, November 20, at 2 p.m. The pastor, the Rev. Marcum B. MAY, assisted by the church choir, conducted the service. The funeral was attended by a large number of prominent citizens from all sections of the county. The entire front of the auditorium was banked with flowers, beautiful beyond description. Pallbearers were J. W. HARDAWAY, Ralph HENDERSON, T.C. CARROLL, Ben MILLER, C.L. STANSBURY, and Ed McARTHUR. Burial was in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Mr. McAfee served as Sheriff from 1930 until he was elected Judge in 1938. He retired from public office at the completion of his term in 1942. He was a Director of the Peoples Bank, Mt. Washington for many years, and active in civic affairs. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. MABLE McAFEE; five sons, HARRIS McAFEE, Cincinnati; WADE McAFEE, Taylorsville; WARD HILL McAFEE, Louisville, and MAURICE and R. LEE McAFEE, both of Mt. Washington; two daughters, MRS. BARNEY SPURR, Buechel, and MRS. EDWARD POUND, Mt. Washington, and thirteen grandchildren.
