Washington Business Man Succumbs William Hamilton McFARLAND, died at his home in Mt. Washington, KY Saturday, August 27, 1938, at 3pm He had been in ill health for several months, and although he was seriously ill, his death came as a shock to the people of Mt. Washington and Bullitt County. Mr. McFARLAND, 64 years of age, was born reared and lived all his life at Mt. Washington and his death removes from the community one of it's leading citizens and business men. Mr. McFARLAND succeed his father and older brothers as undertaker, in McFARLAND's Mortician's of Mt. Washington, which has been established nearly seventy-five years, this Establishment will continue under the management of Mr. McFARLAND's only son, Mr. Grigsby McFARLAND, who has been working with his father for several years. Mr. McFARLAND operated a farm near Mt. Washington, and was owner of the McFARLAND Garage. He also was formerly Master Commissioner of Bullitt Circuit Court. Mr. McFARLAND united with the Mt. Washington Methodist church in his young manhood and was a loyal supporter of his church until his death. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was united in marriage when a young man, to Miss Ella GRIGSBY of Mt. Washington who preceded him to the grave about 30 years to this union were born four children, one daughter who died in childhood, two other daughters, Mrs. Walter MATHIS, and Miss Geneva McFARLAND and one son, Mr. Grigsby McFARLAND of Mt. Washington, who survives him. He was united in Marriage about 10 years ago to Mrs. Virgie TUCKER, (nee SHIELDS) of Louisville, who survives him. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. Hattie KAYE, of Louisville, Mrs. Styler HARRIS and Mrs. Leo HARRIS of Mt. Washington, one grandson Walter Hamilton MATHIS of Mt. Washington, and many other relatives and friends.
