She was the former Dorothy Belle Purvis, a native of Nelson County. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Union, a former sheriff of voting polls in Bullitt County and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lebanon Junction. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Garrett Pepper Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Eva Inez Boston of Louisville and Loretta Maddox of Lebanon Junction; three sons, James G. Pepper Jr. and Edward Leon Pepper both of Lebanon Junction, and John D. Pepper of Sonora; five sisters, Susie Barry of Elizabethtown, Edith Brown of Peoria, Ariz., Cordelia McGee of Louisville, Cleota Hardin of Somerset and Mildred Siler of Garden City, Mich.; one brother Adrain Purvis of Corydon, Ind.; 24 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, at Kappel Funeral Home in Lebabon Junction. Burial was in Lebanon Junction Cemetery.
