Date: 16 June 2000 ***************************************************************************** John Franklin Parrish fell asleep at 8:20 p.m., September 30, after an illness of several months. On Friday, October 4, he would have been 46 years of age. He grew up in our town and has many school friends here who remember him as a boy and also older friends who remember his boyhood prnaks and genial look on life. After his marriage to Martha Lee of Belmont, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rice Lee, he resided here a few years then mover to Louisville on New Year's Day, 1928. He started immediately as an employee of Denunzio Wholesale Fruit Dealers and continued there until ill health compelled him to give up. He had gone from truck delivery to head salesman and general directior of all employees. His employers were not unappreciateive of his loyal service but were just as loyal in their dealings with him. His body was taken to the funeral home of O. D. White in Louisville and kept until 10 p.m. Tuesday for the many city people to pay their tribute of love and respect to a good friend. He was then brought to the McFarland Chapel where many came to look their last on their former friend. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, by a former pastor, Rev. D. R. Peak, assisted by Rev. J. L. Coomer and Rev. Noah Benningfield, the Baptist pastor. The choir and Mrs. Lindsay Wigginton, Mrs. H. C. McGee at the piano, sang, "In the Garden" and "The Lord's Prayer." Salt River Lodge of Masons concluded the service at the grave. The beautiful flowers were an expression of love and respect of the many friends and business associates made during his life. He is survived by his wife, one son, John, one granddaughter, Lynda Suzanne, Parents, Thomas and Lillian Parrish, one brother, Paxton, and one nephew, Alan. (There is no year identified on this article. However, his tombstone indicates he was born 1900 and died 1946.)
