He was a native of Bullitt County, a retired carman for the old Louisville & Nashville Railroad Co. and a member of Belmont Baptist Church. Survivors: four daughters, Dorothy Phillips of Clermont, Linda P. Akridge of Shepherdsville, Mary J. Scrogham of Lebanon Junction and Ruth A. Bishop of Smyrna; three sons, Robert P. Rhoades of Olivehurst, Calif., James R. Rhoades of Lebanon Junction and John A. Rhoades of Clermont; a sister, Josephine Ashbaugh of Lebanon Junction; three brothers, Melvin Rhodes of Shepherdsville, Richard F. Rhodes of Indianapolis and James E. Rhodes; 26 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Maraman-Billings Funeral Home, Shepherdsville. Entombment: Evergreen Mausoleum. Visitation: 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday.
