Contributed by Brenda kybrenda@aol.com & Marion Date: May 2000 ***************************************************************************** In the death at 425 PM Monday, of Mrs. Mary BRYANT WIGGINTON, Jeffersontown lost one of its oldest and most highly esteemed residents. Mrs. WIGGINTON, who had passed her seventy-sixth milestone, the 9th of February, had been in failing health for several years and had gradually, one by one, laid down life's duties which she had performed so long and so faithfully--and about a wee ago took to her bed for the end which was apparently near form that time the seven devoted children being all at her bedside when the final summons came. Born and reared near, Fairfield and having spent most of her married life in the Elk Creek and Waterford neighborhoods, Mrs. WIGGINTON had lived in Jeffersontown only in her later life but had made many loyal friends and neighbors who are grieving sorely at her passing. She was married to W. V. WIGGINTON, October 24, 1877, their golden wedding was celebrated October 25, 1927, and three years ago, also in October Mr. WIGGINTON answered his final summons. A quiet, unassuming home loving mother in Israel, Mrs. WIGGINTON has been a life-long Baptist and a regular attendant at its services as long as health permitted. Her pastor, Rev. L. T. WRIGHT, conducted the funeral from the Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and interment was in the cemetery at Elk Creek. Surviving are four daughters, Mr.s Maude HEFLEY, of Buechel, Mrs. Ollie THOMAS of Louisville, Mrs. Alma ROBINSON of Lyndon and Miss Aline WIGGINTON, who lived with her mother, 3 sons, Tom WIGGINTON, of Louisville, George WIGGINTON, of Miami, Florida, W. H. WIGGINTON, whom lived with his mother. There are also seven grandchildren, two sisters. Mrs. John REID and Miss Grace BRYANT, both of Louisville, and one brother, Bryon BRYANT of Louisville.
