Date: 18 June 2000 ***************************************************************************** The marriage of Miss Alice Elizabeth Renegar and Mr. Chester Nolan Porter was quietly aolemnised on the lawn of the bride's home in Fern Creek at 5:30 Saturday afternoon, Rev. B.F. Atkinson of the Mount Washington Methodist church officiating. Only the nearest relatives and most intimate friends of the couple - some fifty in all - were present. Just preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Luther Stoner sang "Until" and "At Dawning" accompanied by Miss Willimae Renegar - younger sister of the bride - at the piano which was stationed on the front porch. To the Bridal March from Lohengrin the bridal party filed down the steps and across the lawn to an alter improvised of palms and ferns where the minister awaited. The only attendants were Mrs. Robert S. Welsh, who was her sister's Matron of Honor and Mr. Welsh, who was Mr. Porter's best man. The sisters were dressed alike in simple organdy; Miss Willimae in pink with corsage of pink roses; Mrs. Welsh in green, carrying an arm bouquet of pink roses and the bride in white bearing a shower bouquet of Bride's roses, plumosa and Baby's Breath and having a wreath of orange blossoms on her back hair. The groom also was in solid white - the groomsman in conventional gray, both with rose buttonaires. Following the impressive ring ceremony an informal reception was held after which Mr. and Mrs. Porter left for a short wedding trip, the bride's going away gown being of blue crepe with all accessories to match. The bride is the second daughter of Mrs. Anna M. Renegar; Mr. Porter is the older son of Mr. and Mrs. F.T. Porter of Mt. Washington and holds a responsible position with the Farmer's Creamery. They will be at home for a short time with the groom's parents until the completion of their own home now under construction. (Wedding date noted in margin - 13 Aug 1932)
