At an early hour Sunday morning, relatives and friends from far and near began arriving with congratulations and loving remembrance for the day. Many of the guests brought their baskets and boxes as a contribution to the physical part of the entertainment. Many beautiful cakes were sent by absent friends and three large tables were really groaning beneath the abundance of delicacies and substantial viands displayed. Mr. Showalter is 84 and his wife 78 years young. He is the oldest member of Salt River Masonic Lodge in years of membership, acting as Tiler for more than 50 years. Mrs. Showalter is a lovely christian character with a kind word and helping hand for all distressed in mind or body. Both are members of the Baptist Church. More than seventy-five visited them through the day and a number sent cards in honor of the day. "As they travel on the shady side of the road, May kind thoughts of friends make light, life's weary load. When the "parting of the way" seems close and sure, May they find their hands in God's safe and secure." The Jeffersonian
