Will Book G p. 86 In the name of God Amen, I Edward HESSEY being now nearly at the close of my 79th year and being feeble in body but thank God still retaining my usual mind do make this my last Will and testament in the words and form following: Viz: It is my will that as soon after my death as convenient all just claims against me be paid in the next place I reserve and set apart a slip of land on which I have erected a Vault for a resting place for my mortal remains beginning on the Shepherdsville road from Mt. Washington to Shepherdsville running thence with mine and his, WILLIAM STEVENS, line South easterly so as to pass the Vault far enough to leave a Space of twelve feet by running paralel with the Vault that line to be forty feet long, thence back to the road so as to leave a Space of Six feet for the entrance to the Vault - which I do reserve and Set apart for the purpose above named and I hope none will molest it. It is my next wish and it is my will that all the household furnature, bedding etc. Shall go to my wife bonafidely. It is my will that and inventory be made or taken of all the avail I may die possessed of and I do hereby give and bequeath one third to my wife CATHARINE HESSEY to be hers bonafidely to do as she thinks proper with my intention being it Shall be hers bonafidely. I in the next place appoint WILLIAM HESSEY of Danville, Illinois, and J. W. SHOWALTER of Nelson County Ky my Executors to carry out the foregoing. I wish them to qualify as soon as convenient and as Soon as they are able to ascertain the amount of the assetts to Set apart one third for my beloved wife Catharine and take charge of the balance and use it in what - ever way they think best and in addition to what I have allotted to my wife CATHARINE as name above, I also give and bequeath to her the proceeds of the other part during her life after deducting there from the necessary expences and after her death it is my will it Shall be disposed of in the following manner: Two Hundred Dollars to the living children of my brother JOHN HESSEY, dec’d which are REBECCA and WILLIAM HESSEY, Rebecca being REBECCA McGEE, formerly Beca HESSEY. I give and bequeath to her one Hundred and Seventy five dollars and to WILLIAM HESSEY twenty five Dollars. I next give and bequeath to the living children of my brother DANIEL HESSEY dec’d Two Hundred Dollars to be divided equally. I next give and bequeath to the living children of my brother THOMAS HESSEY Two hundred dollars to be divided as follows: Seventy five to Ella and Seventy five to FANNIE DANIELS, formerly FANNIE HESSEY and the other fifty dollars to be equally divided amongst the balance of the living children except LIZZIE C. HESSEY She being otherwise provided for. I next give to the living children of my brother ABRAHAM HESSEY two hundred dollars to be divided as follows. One Hundred and Seventy five to NANCY AMES, formerly NANCY HESSEY and the other twenty five divided among the children by his last wife. I next give and bequeath to my sister MARY E. STEVENS, formerly Mary E. HESSEY, Five Dollars that being all I intend her to have of my estate, and after the death of my wife, I wish my Executors to collect the outstanding claims and pay the above bequests when called for and as soon after the death of my wife CATHERNE HESSEY as convenient to set apart Eight Hundred Dollars for the benefit of my black woman MINT and use it in any way they think best and pay to her the proceeds there from during her life, that is if she should do as she has agreed to do, remain with us and discharge her duty as She has agreed and bargained to do but if she Should prove refractory and not perform what she has agreed and bargained to do Then the above provision to be null and void and are hereby revoked but Should she prove faithful, to be binding and in full effect, I do also request executors William and J. W. SHOWALTER to take charge of the fund left for Minta and use it to the best advantage So long as She may live, and if they or either them are called hence to have it placed in the hands another safe hands, for her benefit, and I also wish them to pay her semi-annually as money is a slippery thing, and after the above bequests are paid and provisions respecting Minta, it is my will that WILLIAM HESSEY and his wife LIZZIE HESSEY Shall have the balance of to be divided between them equally and each to have the right to do as they please with it. My intention is that it Shall be theirs individually and equally and after Minta’s death the Eight hundred dollars for her benefit to go to FRANCIS HESSEY, daughter of WILLIAM & ELIZABETH C. HESSEY but Should She not Survive MINT, then to the living children of said William & LIZZIE HESSEY, if none to them, William & Lizzie HESSEY.
